Friday what you sipping on update...

Highland is one of the many (40?) craft breweries in the Asheville, NC area. First had this while there last month and earlier this week in Kill Devil Hills.

 

There are times when a cold Bud hits the spot.

 

Figured we had a bit in common, Dos.

Utica: my hometown. Fam used to have a farmhouse as a summer place up in Forestport. 600 acres of pristine old-growth never-been-logged-or-settled land. Learned to swim, shoot rifles & shotguns, ride horses & give blood to the biggest, most bloodthirsty deer flies known to man. Gigantic spring-fed several acres of water up the road for canoeing & swimming, bears, bobcats, every sort of creature imaginable. My dad had to get out & check for bears whenever we went over to the swimming hole. Paw prints everywhere.

So my two uncles inherited my grandpa's built-from-scratch construction biz in Utica & ran it into the ground. That 600 acre property got tossed in & sold with the biz for $100,000.00 total (biz, facilities, heavy equipment, Forestport land) lol

Well, howdy neighbor!...
Actually, my folks and my wife came from that area. Mom and Dad moved to CT shortly after they were married, where I was born 11 months later.
But some of my fondest childhood memories were summers in Upstate NY: fishing, boating, swimming, hiking, cookouts with parents, cousins, grandparents, aunts and uncles, in-laws and outlaws. A week up in 1000 Islands being one of my fondest. Let's not forget apple-picking in early October and snowmobiling in December.
My Mom's side of the family liked to hunt, my Dad's liked to fish.
Then there's the skeeters and black flies.
Up there a man's worth is measured by the size of the wood stack in the backyard and the amount of venison in the freezer...

Downing some cold, cheap azz, redneck Busch Light this warm afternoon after a day of cleaning out our garage and making a run to the dump.

 

Busch was the first beer I ever drank, as a young kid. I was sent to get the adults beers and would pop them open to taste test before handing them over.

The first time I got a beer buzz was on Busch regs!!!
