During a session last year in the Delmarva Area, I noticed a cool looking buoy with a length of rope dangling off of it. I decided to take it home so paddled over to it and grabbed the rope to tow it to shore. Immediately My upper body was covered with must have been a least a thousand small crustaceans (Amphipods) that made my skin crawl. I let go, rolled off the board and swam under water as far as I could and they released. Very Spooky but harmless.
Turned a corner of a building and was about to set my dog on ground to let her walk, but the big rattle snake 2 feet away from me told me to go home. Seen plenty of those fuckers around socal, but facing one from a few feet away is something else.
When I lived in Malibu, used to go to work @ 3am. Always checked under the vehicle for rattlers prior to walking up & opening door. They like to sit under the engine block for the warmth & have been known to strike ankles of unsuspecting humans.
Heard about this today - deer was rescued by surfers from ocean at Belmar, NJ. https://www.app.com/story/news/loca...mming-deer-rescued-surfers-belmar/1142497001/
Deer must have been so exhausted to allow the surfer to cradle its body, nice to see a happy ending ..........
FYI. Collective names for animals: http://www.thealmightyguru.com/Pointless/AnimalGroups.html Humans aren't listed. What might apply?...mob, herd, committee, congregation, shitload,...
From the 1957 movie "The DI". Parris Island Drill instructor (played by Jack Webb): "Out on that drill field yesterday, you people were miserable. You people ain't even a mob. A mob's got a leader. You people are a herd! I'm gonna get me a sheep dog."
https://www.surfer.com/features/there-are-shark-attack-betting-odds-now/ I thought this was an interesting read. The over/under on world wide shark attacks this year is 83.5. The over is -150 and the under +130. Meaning if you were to bet 100 bucks on the over you'd win 67 bucks and if you bet the under you'd win 130 bucks. They even have prop bets for certain beaches pitted against each other. They also said the likely hood of being attacked is 1 in 3.7 million.
