    UPDATE: I accepted an offer!

Starting my new gig on 5/13 and I am amped! Going back into sales, which tbh is a better fit for me since I like to hustle. Getting paid a salary limits me, almost like I have to do less work to make it worth it.

So stoked to be working for a well established and GROWING company. They said I can expect my first promotion before the end of the year.

Damn it feels good to be moving upward again.

Sorry for the delay I got banned for a month before I could respond....

My finances are very tight. Everything is sorted out and paid minimum 2 weeks in advance in order to keep from going under.

What is dragging me down, as with so many in my generation (i'm 31) is when I was in HS everyone told me that I had to go to college, so I went to a university, graduated, and now I have BMW-car-payment sized monthly loan payment that I have been paying for quite some time and still have several years to go.

Paying $5000+ per year in student loans is what's killing me. Classic melinnial sob story, that's why I have not told it before. I refuse to let it define me.

Hindsight is very sharp here and I would have chosen a different path, but here I am, making the best of it.

Let's just say, not business, sales, finance, accounting, or any of the fields I have a career in. I have an associates and a bachelors.

Like I said, I had very poor guidance at a critical time in my life, and I refuse to let it, or anyone define me based on those decisions.

I have proven myself far beyond my education.

Well, I had no intention to define you, as you state, but rather, to share some suggestions.
Good luck with your new job; now go surfing while you can.

The fact that you're paying anything at all towards your student loan speaks loudly of your integrity.

Good luck with your latest venture

    Thank you kind sir.

I will say that a big part of my sales motivation early on was to be sure I made those payments to preserve my good name and my good credit.

Im 29. I totally feel for you man. I got lucky. When i was in HS everyone said college to me too. Getting into a trade was portrayed as a "low life" sort of career. Long story short I'm now doing HVAC/R and doing well although i wish i had gotten into it right out of HS. I got my own issues we discussed earlier in this thread (i think. This is a long one) but i am doing good and have lots of opportunities to grow. Basically in the process of sifting through them all and trying to figure out what fits.

Anyway, my point is i don't have student loans. My older sister does. Although i have 2 degrees i paid myself through community college. Was there longer than i should of been since i had to work to pay for classes. But looking back im so grateful. Parents didn't do that on purpose.... they were just tapped out after my sister went to college. But man im happy it worked out that way. If i had student loans and went to the college i wanted to go to id be in a bad place right now.

Im on the fence about kids. Could make a compelling argument for or against it. Not going to get into it although it does sort of fit in this thread as life advice. Maybe later. But anyway if i ever did have kids.... this would be my #1 advice. The whole student loan thing. Doesn't seem like a big deal as college is only 4 years of your life but that debt can last a LONG LONG LONG time.

Glad to hear you got yourself a new gig. And not for nothing but it sounds like you have a much better hold on the student loan debt compared to most people i know. So good on you although I'm sure it's still not optimal

Student loans suck when you’re starting out working, but you’re going to make more money as time goes on and it won’t even be an issue for you.

If you’re hungry and are slanging whatever you got - the student loan payment could be wiped clean with one good month.

I’m 33, started my business on oct 31 and threw myself into it 100% on Jan 11. I already have over 300k in Billings with an extremely healthy profit margin.

Sales is awesome way better than just being a project manager. Even better when you bust your ass and YOU get to keep the dividends at the end of every quarter.

We all know life is a mental balancing game and the keys to being happy and not living in fear, regret, sadness, anger, are inside ourselves. We get lost and far away from who we are as individuals when we start to compromise, or doubt ourselves. Then we get into cycles of “being ahead” and then falling behind... and mix that with life’s craziness and you can really fall down the rabbit hole. Hard.
I’m sure I’m not alone here... not even close. So when we kind of lend a hand in words or gestures, we help ourselves too. And often times that kind
Word, offcolor or bad timed joke, or straight up life advice with no sugar coating we seem to share here, can truly help. Something as simple as someone else telling you “shit ain’t so bad - change your outlook”, flips a switch and all of a sudden you wake up and realize you’ve been holding yourself back. Drowning yourself without any reason. And small things become huge.
Long winded way of saying thanks to HH and all the others who share their shitty days, fears and hurts without worry, and yet are the first to offer that “helping hand”

Well guys, I got bad news. I was let go from my job today. No warning, just goodbye. It started off good but then the slow season hit and they didn’t have the patience to hang in there while I built the business up.

They never gave me a goal or a quota so it’s a little weird. They just expected more I guess. How much more I don’t know. So, back to the drawing board. If anybody knows of any good jobs in Brevard County FL or any decent remote / work from home positions please message me. Thanks!
