I saw Second Thoughts (2004) last night. As far as surf documentaries go, not epic, but pretty good. Its about 3 guys who travel to Indo and camp on a remote island for 4 weeks between 2 world class breaks, a left and a right. They show camping life the way it really is, and let me say its not easy. Food and water become scarce and getting to the breaks are not easy from camp. I almost felt tired myself watching these guys. One of the surfers lands a cover shot on Surfer Mag. Pretty neat. The quality of footage is left to be desired, because it appears that it was not exactly professional equipment, but it definitely adds to the reality of the documentary. There was discussion about the movie, The Drifter, which was a total fake documentary. Second Thoughts is what The Drifter really tried to be. IMO
Agree......if you liked Second Thoughts definately watch Burning the Map..same guys from earlier trips i believe...captures even more of the raw aspect. As good or even better that ST IMO
Ditto. Timmy Turner rules. Dude almost lost his life due to a brain infection and still charges so hard. He's a real inspiration. stoneybaloney - I order my movies online (a little cheaper) or now most movies are available on iTunes.
brought up this movie before, it kicks the **** out of the drifter, theses guys are hardcore and can def inspire you to put it all on the line
this isnt surfing but i figure a bunch of you guys skate. fuel tv gave 100 grand to ten filmmakers a few years back and the best film outta the ten recieved a million to do a feature. this is the winner. willy wonka + skating + psychedelics = machotaildrop http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Yor-AnIfPCc
Second thoughts is probably my favorite video ever. Period. I bought it back in 04 when it came out, cause the kids are all from socal, so they promoted it big time. Especially after timmy almost died. We have all been supporting him out here since that happened. But that video is fu**Ing retarded. That final scene, the left barrel with the mounted camera, is probably the longest barrel anyone on this site, including me has ever seen. It was what, 40 seconds long or something, no sh**.... That whole video, those kids are pulling into 15 foot gaping drainers... That is a legit video for sure. Make me want to travel every time I watch it. Truly a sick as$ movie. Make me hungry for goats too =)
