Dude my surfing buddy lives across the street from the beach but constantly stares at the cams. "Ahhh, I'm not going out, it looks like shite on the cam" lol

 

I just don’t think its possible to have theaccuracy you may be looking for. So many variables to take into account, and at the last moment, on a flat day, 3 thigh highs come through, or a 4 foot wave jacks up to 6 foot.

As a late in life surfer, and not really into spending the whole morning in the car going from beach to beach, I just picked a couple of places. Went every weekend regardless of the prediction. Then you get a feeling for what it might be like given the SI and MSW predictions, what a certain part of the beach will be firing like while the part under the cam looks flat etc.

The motto is “Go before you Know” and “Know but still go”. That will teach you a lot. You gotta fail a lot before you can consistently succeed. And really, even if its not what you thought the wave would be like, isn’t it fun anyway to just get out there?

You can also learn from the guy that lives a couple hundred miles from the beach. He will tell you to wear an orange wetsuite in 80 degree water, because his photog says the color really pops in pics.

 

Hint, low pressure verses high pressure. Talk with others surfers that surf your break and if you are'nt a total kook they might clue you in if a swell is present or coming. Just go look and when in doubt paddle out. You're welcomme.

 

Just walk up to the first guy you see and punch him in the face. Or you can put some soap bars in a pillow case and start wailing away on the first guy who steps to you. if you're white, you can always get in good with the Aryans. They'll watch your back but it will cost you.
