Got some 3-5' yesterday at the spot, this S swell kind of overpromised and underdelivered as usual. Got a few fun ones!

Got some fun surf this morning, swell out of the SW running 3'@20 seconds. Couple of long-ish lulls with some fairly strong head high+ sets. Most forecasts were calling for morning onshores, but it was clean and glassy. Not perfect, but punchy and fun.

Unfortunately, I hadn't realized for almost a week that my daily driver suffered some damage from last week's clown show. Some guy on a big board ditched it and let his leash foink it back to him as he bailed out near where I was paddling out. I duck dived and thought I had escaped, flipping the board over a couple of times to give it a cursory examination. Didn't see it then, but found a major fin gash next to my front fin box. De-lammed some glass over the fin box too.

So rode the backup today and still had fun. Daily driver is in the man cave getting the attention she deserves.

here's to my EC brothers scoring some decent surf again soon

Had a pretty good day Tuesday and in trunks, but there's too many bennies out. Especially the kind that just float around on a board and don't know how to surf.

It's even like that on flat days during the summer.

There was actually a surprisingly good little longboard wave this morning. Really good light too. Got a ton of good shots this morning. Happy 4th Of July.

Suite shots, CJ. I was just thinking - that looks like really good light for shooting. Must've been shortly after sunrise. What camera are you using?

I'm jonesing for waves lately. About 3 more months to go... before I can get back in the soup. Hoping I'll get cleared for some longboard waves by the end of the summer. Wishful thinking at best.

Yeah i went out yesterday afternoon on the low incoming and the water was pretty tropical. around 80 in Maryland. The waves were knee high, weak. Struck up a conversation with a guy I see from time to time in the water who had some interesting stories about trips he's been on and kept getting annoyed when little waves would pop up and disrupt the conversation.

Yes, those shots were between 6:00 and 7:30. I shoot with a Canon 7D with a 100-400L IS USM Lens.

What a morning / afternoon! My wife and I got to the beach around 9:20am, set up the canopy tent, cooler filled with drinks and stuff to make sandwiches for lunch.

The tide was high and waves were breaking onshore, so I body surfed for an hour, then relaxed for a bit and waited for the tide to go back out.

I saw it was starting to break around 11am so I paddled out on the LB and caught wave after wave for a couple hours. It was knee - waist with a nice set here and there. Conditions were clean most of the morning with a slight bump later on when the sea breeze picked up some.

American flags all over the beach, and at one point a military helicopter did a fly by a couple times and waved to everybody as they went by, I saluted them, then spun and caught a wave. Happy 4th everybody!

Still getting some of that long period swell, some sets coming through at head and 1/2 so there was some push. Paddling in the rip next to the boulders was a bit gnarly today because of the tidal push and the swell direction. Bigger than yesterday, but not as clean.

last wave in was like Groundhog Day. Coming down the line and some other kook loses their board in front of me. Yup, her 9' log made a sickening thud with my board so I take a quick peek...and discover the 4 hours I spent yesterday repairing the last kook's damage was completely obliterated by this kook. The exact same spot.

I can tell already that this is gonna be just a bitchen summer

I have been hitting the high tide spots, which have been good to me all summer. Used the mini-longboard yesterday and the 5-7 today. Yesterday was definitely better, with some underlying faint groundswell feel. Just glad I got a chance to get wet on the 4th.

Awesome dude, glad you got some too! I have been waiting for a good day to meet up and catch a few with you. The last month or so I have gone to the beach last minute with low expectations fully prepared to get skunked with total flatness, but end up with a little surprise like yesterday here and there. I’ve been hitting a reef spot a little South of the high tide spot you probably hit.

I right there with you. It's been just a matter of checking the buoy, and if it went up like half a foot, and the winds are light, then I take a chance that it's at least loggable

Knee high and clean this morning off Dam Neck. The bait fish were jumpin'. Water temp in upper 70s. Got in a sesh on the longboard before the holiday weekend hordes hit.
