OCMD Going OFF!

whatever man,......hell i surf right next to you all the time........most likely. maybe not, who knows, who cares right.

i will be out on friday some time........how about we all meet up somewhere, the bigger the better of course,.....place that is. But anyway, then maybe you can see how much hate i have, or dare i say stoke?

Clarification of "GOING OFF!"

Let me clear things up for you all! The term "Going OFF" should be used wisley. First off, Going Off is a term used in your mind. When it is Perfect and Big enough to be considered going OFF, it is usually to big for the people who claim its "going off" to even paddle out! So when it is going off, you will be able to see the spray as high as the bay side of the dune, you will here the waves on the closest ocean high way (route 1) and your tail begins to pull inbetween your legs very tightly as you know the term Going OFF means consequence and beauty. So stop saying it is going off when it is just marginal. PLEASE. When micah's report says good to epic conditions you will not be posting reports saying it's going off because if you surfed, your arms are to tired to type, and if your posting, you didn't surf and wished you had! Just trying to lighten everyones day. Take care. This will probally make people mad. I know this. Take it lightly dudes! THINK.

 

i disagree. I would say "GOING OFF" is completely relative to the person saying it. We all have had different experiences in the water, so for maybe someone with limited years of surfing, a perfect, chest high day maybe going off to them. While the veteran surfer who has had many travels and what not, may need much more for them to to justify the GOING OFF status.

In context of my day today: The traffic on the way to work today was Going Off!

 

Sorry guys if your taking this seriously, but this thread seems to be going nowhere.....we all have our own opinions of stoke, going off, etc. I hate to see this going to 12 pages haha

 

well, going off doesnt have to be macking, it could be smaller but perfect. Face it, once it is well overhead here (DEMD), most/all spots cant handle size and are not lined up and perfect. (there are always exceptions) Anyway, whatever. Why are you guys offended b/c the guy said going off. So what, he was happy and satisfied. i havent gotten a good day in like 2 weeks and i am pretty envious of the few who enjoyed these quick midweek swells. I'm missing friday and then it gets pretty darn cold for a while so lay off. It was good and if you others are too cool to surf clean chest high waves,

I would like swell like that anyday.

You haters, Wait and stick your nose up at all swells untill it GOES OFF which is once a year when it gets Triple overhead gnarly brah .

 

Perhaps, as Micah said, relativity is the key here. The best thing about surfing is it means a world of different things to the world itself. These petty arguments are only limiting the great lifestyle that, based on the majority of people on this site in the first place, we all share. Find Enjoyment.

 

It never ceases to amaze me how immature people can be on these forums, as well as in the lineup. If someone gets excited about the surf and wants to share, let them share! Get stoked that it was even good on the East Coast and don't miss it next time! Don't be a grouch because you're mad that you weren't out having fun too. Angry surfers need to loose their attitudes. Everyone out there for the same reason -- to have fun. Main reason I hate first street VB is people like that.

 

i would agree that it was awesome with really nice long left and def some nice inside tubes. as far as the increase in ppl over the years i have no idea what you talking about xgen70 i only saw one other as far as i could see. so crowded i think not

It WAS GOING OFF, seriously a lot bigger than I expected, definately some over head sets hopefully I can sneak away for some lunch time snacks...
