Bought one from a local who didn't like it..although I had my doubts about him actually ever surfing. Its been fun .. I got a long way to go skill wise but I'm having fun
Man,, I can't speak to anyones love for the ocean but its always cool finding different ways to enjoy the ocean. Its not surfing and its not a boog , borrow one from a friend. its worth a try.
Seems cool to try, esp on the days we have swell but its all closeouts, bad wind, or what not. Better than more SUPs in the lineup.
I actually like to SUP but only flat water bays or lakes. Maybe in the ocean but definitely not in or anywhere near the lineup.
Yes, I agree. I really enjoy fishing from a SUP or going during the summer flat spells. But I never understood the guys who think they can just paddle all over and take any set wave bc they were "on it first." The guys who SUP and respect the line up I have no beef with but there does not seem to be many.
Yeah that's often the case. Personally, a SUP board just has too much volume to muscle around in the surf. SUP for me is just an enjoyable way to cruise around and not a surf vehicle.
I think bodyboards are pretty neutral from a performance perspective. With a mat you can squeeze it and change the shape and firmness of the mat as you ride to keep you in the most critical spot on the wave. Plus, you can deflate it and roll it up into your backpack.
Different sensations, different speeds. on a boogieboard, a large percentage of your body and board is immersed. On a mat, speed is increased as you glide on top of the water. Much less drag is created. However, turning ability is sacrificed substantially.
