In my opinion if you're unsure and never rode one but you've had good luck with custom new boards then in my opinion I would always go with the custom new board. With a custom you get exactly what you asked for you have a good relationship with your shaper you know what to expect from him and he knows what to expect from you. Being honest with your shaper will get you I'm much better board then somebody's used board or one off the rack no matter who makes it or what it is. Like I said it's just my opinion and what I've personally been through

 

Looks fun, kinda like the Dwart i had. Just make sure you get one with enough volume to float the bloat. Buy it, try it. Or like bro said have a shaper make it, its a pretty generic shape.

 

I cant review this particular Chemistry Board but i have gotten two customs from Chemistry. One was a 5'5" Experimental and the other was a 5'10" disk. I got them custom because i wanted to tweak the dimensions and fin setup a bit. Working with their shaper, Jason Bennett, by phone was a good experience, the board were as promised and both ride great. Really good riding boards.

I built a one-off of a Biscuit and felt like it wasn't really a small wave board. Worked better in medium to good waves, imo... then it really turned on. Maybe it was all that curve in the tail?

 

I have the 6'4'' and it rides awesome from mush to well overhead. I was pleansantly surprised how it handled in the bigger stuff because the reviews hinted it was not that good in big stuff. I find it to perform awesome on big waves. Even handles well in the barrel. The only minor issue that I got used to was the fatter rails not locking in when it gets real hollow, it would slide on me a bit but now I know how to adjust and its become a quiver killer. Light board too so can really throw some buckets.

 

I think the length has something to do with the differences we're feeling... mine was sub-six foot... 5'8 or 5'10 I think. At 6'4 I'm pretty sure it would have worked fine in the mush.

It's funny you mentioned the rails... I deliberately volumed-down the rails on mine. Same shape... just brought the radius down.

 

I agree, the extra length def helps in the mush. Smart move on the rails. Im eyeing the Lost Rocket Redux as my next board

 

I think the CI biscuit is one of those boards that would be a small wave board if you lived in California where waist to chest high is "small". for east coast smallness, the nose and especially tail just seem a little bit pulled in and the template too narrow for handling true smallness. The stock dimensions on a 5'8" are Length: 5'8" Width: 20 1/4" That's at least 3/4" narrower than I would get any 5'8" small wave board. I also wouldn't put a round tail / thruster setup on an east coast small wave board.

 

Looks almost like a mini FC Huevo Ranchero... which is a great board, but in the 6' 10" - 8' 0" range.
