So I made the trek to the northeast up in Delaware. Gonna be here a few years and need to figure out some spots to catch some waves. Anyone got some spots they dont mind blowing up?

It kinda sucks, but you get used to it. But I will admit that surfing in a 5 mil in your 50s is a hell of a lot harder than surfing in a 5 mil in your 20s or 30s. I make a deliberate effort to stay fit specifically because of that.
Not really my choice I wanted to go to Spain, Italy, Germany or africa. But I go where I'm told sadly. And I'm likely just going to surf during the summe . Have to take a few days of vacation to go see my shaper and get a thicker board maybe with some more rocker. Maybe a longboard idk
It's about a 6 hour drive to get to Avo . Not really worth the trip when I'd need to either sleep in the truck or leave at 1am for dawn patrol . And that's not including sand reconne
I don't know where exactly you are in Delaware. I was assuming you were somewhere along the coast. From the Ferry Terminal in Lewes it is less than 6 hours to the Lighthouse in Buxton and barley over 5 hours to Nags Head. I live a half hour north of the Ferry in NJ. If I lived on the Delaware side which cuts about 5 hours of travel and $80 off of the round trip I'd be down there regularly on the weekends chasing swell and fish. Most of the year you can tent camp if you want to do it on the cheap.
I'm living near smyrna right now and working in dover, other problem is I have to take vacation to go that far on the weekends sadly being active duty. Jersey isnt too far to travel once in a good swell. I've stayed on the OBX quite a bit In the past, was my old stomping grounds where I really learned to surf surf
You will go insane living in Delaware and only surfing during the summer, especially living in the Dover area. Between INSANE traffic, hit-or-miss summer sandbars, lack of swell and huge crowds where there is a rare summer swell, July 1 - September 30 is basically not worth it in Delaware. I mean if you live at the beach and can just pop over the dune at an odd time to score then for sure. Most people in Delaware drive to Maryland to surf during those months anyway because of the reasons above, the fact that they get more swell, and the sandbars down there don't seem to turn to shorebreak in the summer. Its that bad.
