Anybody had any luck in Oak Island? I've never seen it break on the outside so can't if there are decent bars.
It'll be breaking on this upcoming clean-up swell, but how good? Nobody knows. That's part of the fun. Do you drive down tomorrow during the deluge to try and snag a few? or stay at home and play it safe? I won't know that answer til tomorrow.
Is that the same Oak Island the Ark of the Covenant is buried? If so, that a very small window for any kind of swell to get thru. But if Buckroe Beach in Hampton Va can get chest high tubes, anything is possible.
Lol buckroe.... I have a picture somewhere of me surfing chest high glass there...probably 25 years ago. It's probably breaking today huh chich?
sucks that the south facing beaches are said to be "closed"...it's real clean and fun apparently on Holden right now
and this just in from one of my operatives on site..."the wind is turning a chest high swell into a knee high wave it seems"...
With a nice hurricane about 200 miles due south and a N wind Oak Island will produce incredibly long, fun lines. Other than that weak and gutless for the most part.
Thanks! I'm loading up the bus with a crew, some snacks and supplies, and will be there before you can say Jim Cantori.
Time to break out the Lazy Boy SUP with the stripper pole as a decoy, will bring drones to record the carnage
this cam is useful for catching those rare windows when OI/Holden/OIB are going off, generally on a South swell w/ NE winds https://www.hobbsrealty.com/holden-beach-webcam
Great cam that I didn't know existed! I have caught HB absolutely firing on tropical swells. I'll never forget coming over the crest of the bridge and seeing chocolate colored corduroy all the way to the horizon. I can still see it in my mind.
