The latest projection moves Hurricane I to the left which would have greater impact on the Florida east coast. So far.
i'm glad to hear it's a bit offshore cuz for last couple days it was saying it's careening right into Charleston. Def gonna be a lotta rain when it comes tonight, hi tide at 8pm too. Think dirty Myrtle and maybe Wilmington (nickname for that city?) and part of OBX will get swiped pretty good. Hopeful of some fun surf tomorrow morning, thru Thursday
Nickname for Wilmington: Wilmywood (We were one of the east coast's biggest film production towns from 1984 til 2014) Look's like we are going to get a direct hit from the NE quadrant of the storm. Generator is full of fresh gas and the yard is cleared. Still need to cut the grass... maybe after work
Beautiful swell this morning. Shoulder hi early birds followed up with another chest + sess. Some pplz were on it yesterday evening at sunset, but i didn't bite. This morning was more playful. Went from the Al Chemist to Ms Clementine (the ol Perfection boart that everybody thinks they may have owned at one time or another). It was worthwhile
The tree damage has been widespread , power will be out till next week for many . The nightmare of no traffic lights adds to the mayhem .We still have power yet blocks in the immediate area are running on generators . A basic bs swell with a small window of quality . One horrendous current with wave ratio of 3 in an hr of paddling .
100 ft oak made a spectacular backdrop for sunsets , lightning strike during the 60 mph gust ended its long life .
Always sad to see an old hardwood go down. That shot with the cotton candy sky is awesome. Down here in the land-o-the-pines, old hardwoods are cherished by most, but we have some true ***hole developers that seem to think that people prefer living in scorched-earth communities without a tree in sight.
Our water table is exceptionally high due to underground streams and a lake encompasses 80 percent of the neighborhood . The run off from storms raises the lake in hours which used to take days . Deal lake is Nj s largest brackish pond with a ocean flume.
Unfortunately, it's cheaper to mow them all down than it is to build around them. I lost a HUGE oak tree in 2006. Came right through the house while my ex and I were asleep in bed. Nearly killed us both. Perfectly calm night, it was just its time to go. My bed is under this pile of debris.
That is some scary stuff dudes. Bummer to lose a big tree. Lots of big old oaks in my hood. 5 in my yard. Don't want to take them down but every hard blow i'm biting my nails. Had a tree doc in and he said they are in good shape but still. My block had some big broken limbs and lots of small dead fall. Lost power for like three hrs. I had thought it was all OK around here but a ride around showed me different. There is a ton of downed wires and a pole was snapped in half! Crazy.
