Hey, I'm going to Costa Rica with some friends at the end of the month, and I'm having a hell of a time trying to decide whether I should get the H1N1 vaccine, I already got vaccinated for Hep A & B, just in case...but I've heard mixed reviews on this swine flu shot. Could use some suggestions. Thanks.
I travelled around costa/nica all of december and never had an issue with swine or getting sick from the food/drinking tapwater. I travelled alone, but met a few other guys that I travelled with and noone had any issues (besides the alcohol of course)
its a vaccine, how can you have mixed reviews? i'd say if you can get it for cheap (i got for free) you might as well if you have a concern, even if the hype has lessened. you wouldnt wanna get sick on such an awesome trip, now would you?
i would say no to the vaccine. i work in a school & refused to get it when the state came in & offered it up. if you're healthy & wash your hands & apply common sense to every situation, you'll be fine. like most others you'll talk to, i've been to costa rica 3 times, living there for a short period in 2005 & never had an issue w/ getting sick. just don't drink the moon shine! it's like drinking rocket fuel.
haha...cool...well, I'm still not sure if I'm gonna get it, I work outside and rarely ever get sick or the flu...I guess I'll be alright without it, I've heard some horror stories about people who have gotten the vaccine have all kinds of nervous system issues....lol...you must be referring to the guaro...lol...sugar cane & nitroglycerine...yeah, I think I'll stick with Imperial...lol
nope, not guaro...tho that stuff is pretty gnarly too. whatever this stuff was, it came out of a plastic gallon milk jug, the kind you get at the supermarket. the guy i was living w/ kept it in his basement. 3 shots of the stuff found me paralyzed in a hammock & cross-eyed. keep to the imperials, i agree! as for h1n1, i never really bought into the hype...just follow the sanitary rules your mom tuaght you growing up & you'll be fine. i'm more skeptical of the vaccine, since they rushed it to market so quickly. the old adage, "an once of prevention outweighs a pound of cure," springs to mind.
