Effective January 26, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) will require all air passengers entering the United States (including U.S. citizens and Legal Permanent Residents) to present a negative COVID-19 test, taken within three calendar days of departure, or proof of recovery from the virus within the last 90 days. Airlines must confirm the negative test result or proof of recent recovery for all passengers prior to boarding. Airlines must deny boarding of passengers who do not provide documentation of a negative test or recovery.

This has been the subject of debate for the last week here, or at least in town. People aren't too keen trying to get a test in Mexico or El Salvador for example, not knowing how hard it is to schedule an appt overseas to safely come back. Has anybody had to do such a thing yet? I'm wondering if overseas is trying to make it simple, by like say having airports do testing nearby so there isn't an issue for returning US passengers. With the cold and perhaps temporary flat spell, we're pretty keen on taking a drive down to warmer temps in FL than say flying anywhere. PR & Hawaii would be exceptions i assume, doesn't state "entering the Continental United States" but could be wrong

Hawaii already requires a test within 72 hours of departure. Its the one thing making me hold back on buying tickets.

I frequent a hotel in Cabo that says they have arranged a way for their American guests to schedule their departure with the concierge, who arranges rapid testing and papers for your arrival back to the states.

Sounds as if some destinations may be working proactively to earn your hard earned $$$.

    YMMV

Talked to someone else who had to drive an hour and a half away to get tested because it was the only place he could get scheduled in the right time frame.

For whatever reason, nobody has really pulled the trigger yet on speedy mass vaccination. It doesn't seem to be from lack of vaccine as much as really poor logistical planning...maybe even political reasons. Seems as if many third world countries are getting it, while the rest of the world is on standby.

I just don't know, first world problems I guess

rimJOB is one of those people that is literally incapable of having a conversation without screaming about which political party he/she/it loves the most. FYI - no one gives a f*** who you voted for.

I think the few of us that still remain on this here forum appreciate the politics free zone. It's nice to go somewhere and just talk about surfing. When I see someone getting a sick barrel, I can care less about their political affiliation, I'm just stoked for them.

Absolutely. Political discussions have ruined many a good forum and political dart slinging is even worse. I just have no patience for keyboard warriors and their predictable, childish diatribes. I've been around long enough that I have probably seen and heard most of it and it's all just churlish bvllshit.

No sick barrels for me today, but it was fun nonetheless.

this forum has been blissfully free of politics and a$$holes for the last year or so. if you cannot help the local community keep it that way, you would probably be better off elsewhere.

my time on SI quite possibly predates yours, so slow your roll. further to your statement, this forumme appears blissfully free of significant discussion of anything at all thanks to censorshippe and causing former mainstays to abandonne the ship.

Used to be a time where no one really discussed politics - especially surfers. Don't get me wrong - I am all for free speech but agree that the political discussions are predictable and polarizing to the point that they are not interesting. Politics has turned into a religion and I hate going to church.
