I tried the FU in tropical last summer, stuff is pretty darn good (way to go BR), been rockin' the new cold bubblegum formula this winter, also good. I think there's probably only 4 big co's that have managed to hold the US market - but there's a ton out there. #1 is....

^don't buy wax from china; wetsuits, leashes, traction pads, and boards sure...I say no thank you to the wax but yeah zogg's quick humps is great stuff, so is bubblegum's Rootbeer cool formula
Still use Zog's after all these years. Maybe it's just me, but I would swear that they changed the formula somewhere down the line. Still goes on great, but the smell seems much, much weaker. I remember smelling it wafting in my room where I kept my board as a kid. I distinctly remember smelling it paddling out to the lineup. I can hardly smell it now, even as I wax up. I really miss that strong, tropical scent. But it's just wax ffs. The prices some of these clowns charge for some weird exotic brand of farking wax borders on criminal, if not outright oppression.
yeah $5/bar is a novelty price just for kicks, I remember walking into shops and getting a bar out of a basket for .50 cents the good times
I don't buy wax. When I buy a board I usually get a half dozen bars for free and that lasts me until I buy another board.
Yeah it's weird how inflation and the economy works. I never really pay much attention to the talking heads and so-called experts and their predictions because they are so often wrong. Too many recessions, market crashes and political pandering to take them very seriously. Wax? Was .50 cents, now $5.00. Surfboard? Used to be $400-$500 off the rack, now $800-$1200. My first showroom car, a 1985 Honda Civic, was about $7k...now starting at $21k. Cigs were .75 per pack, now $7.50 per pack on the Reservation, even more from the White man. Meanwhile, the best weed would run me roughly $10 per gram. Now I can get better weed for considerably less. So while that's a good thing now, it won't last forever because eventually RJ Reynolds will start marketing menthol filtered Gorilla Glue and start selling packs of 20 for $10-$20 per pack. And that's before politicians hit it with some stupid "sin tax" and drive the price up another 25%. But I digress (cue sound of crackling bong in background).

Yes. But that also kick started the now widespread trend of high quality EPS/epoxy boards. Which are more expensive to build due to the fact that the materials are more expensive and they take longer to build. Some would argue that the closing of Clark Foam was the best thing to ever happen to the industry.
That would be illegal. Be patient... I'm sure Floriduh will eventually legalize it, probably around the same time as Utah.
Many people in the industry felt Clark monopolized the market. When Grubby shut everything down and destroyed his molds, everyone had to start from scratch. The market once again became competitive, driving innovation in design and materials technology. The industry took great leaps forward for the first time in forever... most notably in the development of high quality, pressure molded, surfboard-specific expanded (instead of extruded) polystyrene foam. Paralleling that was a rapid evolution of surfboard-specific epoxy resin, which over a relatively short time, totally changed the small wave/groveler board game.
I recently found out last week that we have an upstart blank maker here in Wilmington. They cut and glue-up their own EPS blanks, tail blocks, and have an 18ft CNC machine in house. They also rent out shaping and glassing bays to up and coming builders. I mentioned it on another thread but I get my first board from them in 2 weeks!
