As long as none blow a tree onto my roof we are cool.

Also, did you hear that they are doing away with the Greek names for storms because in 2020 Americans were too stupid and the names are "distracting". We all earned a gold star for that one.

The weathermen still struggle to get a 5-day forecast right. Hurricane predictions are a joke.

Like Thanksgiving, the 4th is a holiday that often delivers surf. This 4th is shaping up to be a fun weekend, backed up by some action in the tropics.

I concur. Like clockwork there is always at least a little bump to ride on Independence Day.

Edit: 2020 will go down as the year of holiday surf. Covid got me out of travelling so I managed to surf 7/4, Thanksgiving and Xmas day. Might be some others but my memory does not go back that far.

I think he's got a semi-successful line of cheap-grade surf gear for sale on Amazon.

Broke the record for earliest 5 named storms... Previous record was set last year.

    Come on October!

Yeah, I hope it stays that way. I know the track is based on like 100 years of data but seeing it pointed at my front door and hoping it makes a miraculous turn always stresses me out.

What is CSU? Do you know how we can track some of the metrics like named storm days?

CSU=Colorado State U....they have a pretty well-regarded Tropical Meteorology department and they produced that infographic. as far as past storm data, there's a pretty comprehensive 20 year archive here: https://vortex.plymouth.edu/tropical/index.html
