WOW dude thanks for sharing. So cool that you still have your first board.

Man, the before times. I'm just old enough to remember my family getting out first internet connected computer with Prodigy internet, but too young to have used it for anything constructive.

I don't have any photos of my first board, but like my brother CJ, I ordered a book...

...and hung out at the Heritage factory and watched Dan Senior build boards when I was 17. Haven't stopped since. The book was from 1975! No longer in print... but that was the beginning for me. My brother-in-law (the legend) had a surf shop in Cape May, and he used to sell boards from California and his own that he built. He helped me build my first board, and it was on from there...

I'm pretty sure SUPing is a dead sport. Haven't seen one of those monstrosities in the lineup for a while.

I'm looking for a used SUP... and all-arounder at least 10'6" and as light as possible. Looking to modify it to dive from it when I'm back in the water.

I'm keeping my eyes out for a prone paddleboard.

This is it right here. If you can go watch someone shape or glass a board in person, it will completely change your perspective. Back before my career starting taking off I spent 6 months cleaning a local shaper's factory/store in the evenings, in exchange for access to the factory, critiques of my builds, and being able to watch the masters at work. Never made a penny but I wouldn't do it any different. I forgot everything I thought I knew about building and repairing surfboards in the first week of being there.
