Nice!!! Coming in from the Baltimore Canyon a few years ago my son and I were in the tower of the boat we were running and we passed a massive hammerhead that was up on the surface like that. It was quite a sight looking down on it as we passed by it cruising along.

Some fun little buttery waves today. Almost no wind, pretty consistent, few out, yes....

Needed it after yesterday. I pulled up to my spot, was talking to a touron, and a really nice pealing wave rolled through. And that wave was it. I paddled out and scratched for 2 hours for anything, got maybe 4 waves. I almost got frustrated but the other kid out was making the most of it, was stoked to get anything and always smiling. It was beautiful out and here I was sitting off shore looking at about a hundred tourists on the cliff looking at me, I'm sure some wishing they were in the water themselves. Had a little internal positivity check. Life is good.

    Hey What's Happening?
Been long boarding a few times over the last few days small clean peelers. Standing straight up at the nose after take off, hands raised like a roller coaster kind of riding. Last night as the sun set and this morning as it rose. So much life in the water with whales dolphin and sharks all over. Crazy scene indeed. Made it home in time to make breakfast of salami and eggs with fresh figs and coffee before a meeting.

Looks like a couple more days of swell on the way. Hope everyone gets theirs!

@headhigh I knew RTP sounded familiar.
Local brewery here, DUBCO, make a pilsner named RTP (Resourceful Thirsty People). Good easy drinking beer but expensive for a pils @ $18 a for pack of tall boys. You can stay local and get a 12ver of Blue Point pils for the same money. Just gotta get past the Yankee logo on the can.

Taking a surf break today to rest the shoulders for what's coming. Could be a hoot.

@Peajay4060 I'll keep an eye our for some Destination Unknown in my neck of the woods. I have a great bottle shop near the house that gets brews from all over.

Forecast was looking good this morning. So good that I was wide awake at 5:30 checking the buoys. The height and period were just right for my local break, with light offshore winds. Funny how easy it is to get up when the waves are pumping. And pumping they were.

Get to the beach as the sun was coming up and the tide was a little full, but I was feeling optimistic so I grabbed the 5'6 catch surf fish. Caught a nice waist high right as soon as I paddled out and the waves kept coming. There was a southerly swell direction which helped the shorebreaky rights stay open. Caught a ton of waves in 1.5 hours and made it home for a meeting, which I thought was going to be audio only, but everyone was on camera... so I put on a t-shirt and a hat over my wet hair and no one was the wiser that I was in a towel. I havn't gotten a proper haircut since the beginning of the pandemic, so the flow is extremely strong right now. Not sure if anyone can tell haha

    Well it was a hoot!
Got some today. Chest and bigger, glassy, and peeling forever. Just three souls in the water. Rode the fish and got so many turns in per wave I started getting silly and going more and more vertical right in the pocket. Best I surfed on a short since the shoulders went bad. Had enough waves so that when the tide fattened it a bit and just 4 more people showed I split. My last was a good one too. A great pasta dish for din. Had all the garden veggies like squash and eggplant and tomatoes diced and roasted with just enough shaved pecorino. Washed down with a crispy beer.

Side note the water was cloudy and full of life. The smell of oily blood wafted through the line up. When I got home I heard the guarded beaches were closed again. Sheesh.

    Anybody else surf this one?

I got in a couple evenings ago. It was longboardable, went N Washout. Good to be around some local guys, usually the older guys are out there and i'm not ashamed to ride with especially when it's less crowded. I put myself in position coming off the jetty. Could go right for a lil bit but the southernly swell would send you left for a good distance. I had plenty in the 2 hour span, and the warm bath water was a plus

Surfed semi-clean, light onshore, waist high chunkers on the log yesterday. Every once in a while a chest high wave... but otherwise pretty small and weak. Still fun, though. Water has warmed up to August temps. Visibility was still pretty bad at about 3'... maybe.

Super fun day. We had a lot of weather yesterday and the energy lasted through to today. Busy as hell when I first checked in the am, glad I waited till about noon. There was much less of a crowd and still plenty of waves. Chest high on average but definitely would get some big sets roll through. Picked off one with size right off the bat and was hooked, sat deep the whole time waiting for the bigger sets. I got a bunch, definitely some of the bigger waves I'd gotten this summer, solid head high plus.
Drinking an ice cold PBR right now. My neighbor gave me a monster zucchini, going to stuff that bad boy with ground beef, rice, finely chopped onions and carrots. It's been a while since I stuffed one. It's all in the prep.

What's up swellies? Anyone get some this weekend?

Pretty slow surf wise around here with some knee to thigh waves coming in on Saturday. Watched it all day and decided to hit it late afternoon between storms. There were actually some decent sets coming in, despite the choppy high-tide conditions. Rode my 8ft foamy and caught a ton of waves. I was at one of the more completive spots in the area, and while it wasn't that crowded I still felt like I needed to be aggressive. I hate that feeling. I should have just rode the incrementally s***tyer waves at my normal spot.

Headed home and picked up some cobia filets and a pound of shrimp on the way. Pan seared the cobia and ate a traditional Costa Rican "casada" plate for dinner with the fish, beans, rice, and a small salad. The last bite is the best where you get a bit of each ingredient with the mustardy vinaigrette dressing. Streamed the Jacks Surfboards Pro while we ate. Damn I miss Cali.

Fun weekend, but it went by way too fast.

    All
The beaches are closed. Do not come down here. Our water is toxic at the moment and the cops are monitoring all beach access. Stay home and watch surf videos. That is all...carry on

Hey I got some this weekend. Little on shore nuggets on the LB. Fun way to cool off. the ocean is warm and viz was amazing. There were pockets of salp that was gross. like swimming in clear oatmeal.

After a full a full beach day all the families took a siesta. Afterwards came over for a potluck of home grown salads and homemade pizza. Figs were in everything. Went long into the night with a good fire to keep the skeets away.

Went at hi noon Saturday to Washout. One of the busiest days I've seen it. They ahve the Guv'ners cup going on, but it was booked a couple blocks each direction from Washout 6 block area. I took to North Washout, but it was a soft break. Had the 6'9 loehr and saw some better rides coming from those with longer boardlengths. It was a lil frustrating, left with only a handful of some decent ones. The next day wasq more fruitful. Got in earlier and went down the street with the LB. Lot more texture, but more power on the waves. I caught a lot of rides, many of them that were 40 yarders down the line and really had some good ones throughout the short hour stretch. Not many ppl in the water in my way neither, so very good sess for me at least. On and off again waves this week, may stick around the house later in the week. Gotta find my time to go into the office and train pplz or stick around and surf what i can get - it's called adulting i heard

Went out Friday Eve and caught some mushy waist high waves.
The swell built up overnight and had some nuggets come through Saturday a.m but the tide was a bit too full to really get at most of em.
Went north to Daytona Sunday to hang and bbq and surf with some good peeps.
Hh most of the day but choppy a.f.
I finally had a chance to ride my r.c mini me and it performed like a champ with enough speed to make some sections .
I had my head on a swivel most of the day because of the mix of swell would catch you off guard and smack you off the board.

Surfed a ton this weekend. Got my fill and then some on Sat and Sun. Playful little waves, light wind with the right tides for my area. Rode my 5'6 fish. Love surfing easy to catch little skate ramps all morning.

This time of year I can't seem to wear enough sunscreen. I put a coat of chemical sunscreen that soaks in and then apply zinc over an over to keep my face white all day. I still end up getting kind of burnt after 3 hours.

On Sunday I was craving seafood after the sesh so we hit a cool little Japanese spot for some Poke and a couple sushi rolls. There's a brewery next door so we wander over after lunch and grab an awesome small batch west coast IPA that's made with blood orange zest. Ended the evening at a music spot and saw this dope local jazz/blues band called "Dirty White Rags".

Surf looks flat for the next few days but the tropics are getting hot. Hype thread anyone?
