Dont feel bad CJ , I drove 50 miles in circles for 4 waves ! Excellent photos , 9th looks amazing right now .
Ocean City was at its limits this morning. There were some mutants this morning. My son just made it under this beast. He got a few rewards for a lot of effort. Gesler on a bomb.
I've seen some bad etiquette when it gets crowded during good swell, but yesterday was the worst. Lots of flagrant drop ins, a few heated exchanges. And it doesn't end, I just checked the same spot I took the pics at, waist high with texture, not great, and watched a guy drop in, flounder and fall when the other guy was trying to pass him, get sucked over that tiny wave and lip and fall on top of the other guy, then they washed into some poor kid trying to paddle out, 3 car pile up for a sh!t wave, sure some words were exchanged.
Here is a shot of the inside section of the wave my 16 year old came in on last night. The crazy thing about this shot is it was taken in near total darkness. I knew he had taken off and in the viewfinder all I could see was a black blob moving and a bit of whitewater that was the wave. I just held down the shutter. When I got the shots into Lightroom the shots of this ride were almost totally black as well but with the magic of Lightroom this image emerged. As a surf dad I was actually getting a little nervous with how dark it was getting when he got this. Check out the doubled up lip line on this beast.
Bottom turn. Top turn. Right into another bottom turn. Have a nice sequence of this. It was almost dark when I took these. That's why they are slightly grainy.
Been battling with my new camera for months. Thousands of shots slightly out of focus since about March. Was ready to throw the thing in the garbage or eBay it. Friday night I discovered the tiniest piece of lint in the bottom of the camera......sitting right on top of the auto-focus sensor. GFM! Thing was tack sharp yesterday morning. Unfortunately most of my shots from the Larry swell were not up to par. This is what this camera should be doing.
NY , AB was Tudors partner in Kookbox , regardless he is an awesome photog . Thought you folks would like see those shots .
You have no idea how frustrating its been. I purchased the new body in February and the first session I shot with it I got a sequence that ESM used. Every session thereafter (including an entire trip to Puerto Rico) the shots were off anywhere from a little to a lot. Thousands of shots slightly out of focus and many missed shots because the camera was lost and lagging as it tried to lock onto a target. Making matters worse, I traded in my old camera body to take the sting out of the cost of the new one so I didn't have a backup. I thought it was something I was doing wrong in the settings until finding a youTube video that suggested to me my issue might be a dirty AF sensor. Got in there with a light and a magnifying glass and sure enough there it was. Problem solved.......
