Still don't get why they didn't just close the forums if they didn't want them. Why the need to make it so long and drawn out with the mods smothering them until the died on thier own?
I don't think they wanted the forums gone. In my opinion multiple things contributed to why SI is the way it is now: The forecast got jacked up, making the site essentially pointless, so less traffic in general SI/outdoorhub installed the worst possible moderator (austine) at the worst possible time The democratization of internet access has degraded online discourse over the last 6-8 years Lack of civics education and misinformation about 1A
This place is like the leg lamp in A Christmas Story... shattered, glued back together, only to fall apart again.
We were unanimously pleading with them to stop doing what they were doing. Sure seems to me they wanted the forum gone.
