I'm not hating on longboards; I ride a 9'6" half the time I'm out. I'm hating on the older/fatter idiots that know they can only catch waves on longboards, so they buy the ones I could never afford and paddle out before they know how to control them.
QFT!!!! I love watching guys who can ride on a log but WAY too many people longboard because they can't shortboard.
Judging by his avatar I would say low teens. Just want to warn him because guys in the water with or without wetsuits can be deceiving. I don't want him to invite someone to meet him on the beach to "handle it". That wouldn't turn out so good...
We created a term for them - DBD's. Douche bag dads. It's funny to shout it to your buddy who is down the pack and no one knows what it means. I thought it was over a long time ago but apparently there is more to talk about.
I myself am generally friendly to anyone friendly with me HOWEVER there is something a little bit annoying how people who come to a new spot or are new to the sport try to ingratiate themselves into the lineup with friendliness and whatnot. One minute he's Mr. "hey Bro lets all Bro-down you check anywhere else yeah Bro whats up Bro" the next minute he's paddling around you like a prick and blowing the takeoff. I much prefer the guy who paddles out, doesn't say a word, sits on the outside till he figures out who's the locals/pecking order and where he belongs in it, then takes a few leftover waves (and actually does something with them)
