hey guys, i"m thinking of picking up one of these boards soon. I'm looking for something fun in knee to head high surf, kinda like a good all around goto board for jersey slop. I'm 5'6 and 180lbs. my normal shortboard is 6'1 x 18.5 x 2.32. anybody have any opinions or advice on which one to get and size?
I'm 6' / 170lbs and I'm looking at something 5'11"x20"x2.5" for the same waves you're talking about. I've heard that you should pick fish-shaped boards 2-4" shorter than your normal shortboard.
I don't mean to hijack the thread, but stoneybaloney's avatar is hilarious! "We're gonna fu** you up!"
Haha, thanks! everkain check this out; http://www.swellinfo.com/forum/showthread.php?t=4514&highlight=merrick
Fishcut vs Biscuit Hey guys...your making a smart investment with one of those boards. I picked up a fishcuit last year and LOVE IT MAN! Especially living here in North Myrtle Beach. My fishcuit is 6' which is 3" shorter than my regular shortboard. I am 6' and weigh 185 and my fishcuit performs great in thigh high to overhead waves. It takes some time to get adjusted to the feel of the ride on the fishcuit...it's loose and fast. I did research on the fishcuit vs the biscuit and pod and liked the fishcuit the best. Check out Channel Islands website for a break down of all the models. Like Rob Machado said..."Foam is your friend". Defintely ad this one to your quiver...you won't regret it one bit. Especially if you live along the east coast! Pura Vida
Fischuit all the way Hey, I picked up a 5'2'' fishcuit in August and it is the best money I've ever spent on a surf board. I usually ride a 5'10'', so it feels a little weird at first. But in little waves it is unreal how fast and fun the board is. And I guess because it's a quad it is still pretty loose, skatey and you can do some nice turns on it. It definitely takes a little adjustment from a short board but if the waves are crappy it will make your session. Just don't ride it all the time, it might screw you up when you hop back on a shorty...
Any heavy guys (around 220 lbs) that aren't in great paddle-shape riding one of these? I keep hearing go small. Who's the 6'4" model made for???
I go with the 5'4" VonSol or R'Dot Dwart or Jeff Crawford, the pod is like B.A.T.'s catch-o-the-day shape too
