didnt get to surf this morning and looked at forecast and thought, maybe even with low tide if I hit an hour before like 12n it will be decent since the swell was around waist-chest high--no dice. Manasquan was tiny, I mean barely even ridable and sets were just clean small barrels-- around 12:30pm same with other spots a little further north. even casino cam looked small, so the forecast today was a bit deceiving I guess for norther jersey and was kinda bummed that I didnt hit early this morning. Only shot is at mid-tide again around 4pm which was fun yesterday at that time.
this morning - Long Branch - 645 to 830...COLD! Long wait between sets, when they came though... nice glassy chest high+ A-Frames rolling in. With virtually no current, the long stagnant wait between sets was bone chilling however!
damn, i checked from deal to mb and couldn't find one wave really working. the angle was awful. a lot of people out and the water looked incredibly clean, but didn't see one spot working well enough to put on a wet suit. maybe b/c the tide was draining, this was around 12pm.
I surfed in Oc at one of the usual spots , I got in the water around 10:30 got out at 1. Went to another spot in Oc thats a bit farther North saw it was better and I made me wish I went out a bit later that I did cause I checked that spot earlier and it was flat almost
soo decieving swellinfo charts looked sick and every beach had so many cars but only whe i actually checked the ocean it was clear the the waves sucked ! i drove from alenhurst to pier villi checking beaches in between it was all beat wasted so much time but i was dieing to get wet so i just settled for the beatness 2pm sesh knee-waist to weak to ride
I hit my spot in LBI from 11-12:30. Had a great time, some nice A-frames and hollow shoulders. Would say it was chest high at best, def worth it. I think it always looks small on the cams. Just got to get off ur ass and check it.
Right, I could see LBI being a bit bigger and thats the part that is deceiving. What happened I think was that today we had a very low tide at 1pm and we'll have them until Mar 4-- so after like 10am the swell just dropped considerably and went from some chest sets to mostly waist high surf. I bet around 4pm there were some fun ones left. The waits between sets were brutal too, I kept waiting and waiting for a good one and when a set came it was crap so the suit stayed dry today cause I couldnt get up early enough.
i got lots of fun waist-chest waves, not really that cold at all....and right before low tide usually always sucks, nomatter what the swell is like
i went out in northern oc county and it was pretty fun. waist to stomach occ. chest that was mostly closing out where i was but it was so much fun the wait to stomach had power and was very ripable. i think it depended on where you were. i just went to the most dependable small wave spot i know. and it cam through again.
Today was pure fun! Surfed 2.5 hours in the morning and surfed tonight from 4 until dark. Perfect long lefts and a few punchy rights. I would call it waist to chest with shoulder sets and so clean you could eat off it . I know some on here might not call it "legit" but to me it was legitimately the most fun I have had in the last 2 months (and I surfed every swell in that time frame). Hope everyone got some.
Point Pleasant aqua colored chest+ aframes that were semi hollow with plenty of face. No closeouts. Best surfing Ive had sunce December. And surfed 7 hours straight.
Wed - got it from 2:30 to 5:30 sick barrels. Lots of paddling. about head high. Thurs - surfed incoming tide from around 1 to 3 some fun ones coming in long wait Fri - Same as Thurs. Sat - fun little waves coming through if you waited it out. Sun - surfed yesterday in Bradley long wait but very shallow. Actually got some shoulder high and a few cover ups. Bigger and better than it looked from the boardwalk. Anyway, surfed a lot in the past few days about 11 hours total water time. Looks like we're getting another swell event mid to later this week! More Spring surfing!
