Do a lot of you have a hard time finding a place to keep your keys when you are out? Either cars keys, and or house. For a long time I would have to bury mine in the sand haha. Before I start wearing boots, and wear sneakers onto the beach I just throw them in there. I really don't like the idea of keeping my keys in the truck with the doors unlocked. Recently I found a hidden place in the truck to keep them. I still can't think of what to do with the house keys when I start riding a bike up to the beach again. Burying them in the sand is only alright in the off season when the beaches aren't filled with hordes of people.

Hiding the car key is harder because they can't get wet. Hiding the house key is easy because you can put it in your wetsuit. Most wetsuits made within the last 5 years have key spots. For the car key, get a magnetic box that you can stick underneath to the body. If I don't ride my bike, I usually leave my car keys in my backpack on the beach.

Yeah, but i'm all ocd and just don't wanna put the keys in there haha. Same with body jewelery I take the few piercings I have out before I get in the water. Recently I started putting my keys in one of the utility bins in my truck. When the water becomes warm enough that I don't wear boots[Anything 60 degrees or over] I just wear an old pair of sneakers onto the beach cause i'm a real ***** when it comes to walking barefoot on pavement! When I wear the sneakers they can just go in there.

I just put my keys on one of my tires or through my rim I surf Spring Lake so I'm pretty sure no one there really wants to get into my car... If I ride my bike I don't bring any keys just grab my hidden spare to get back into my house...

youd be suprised at the lil****as in SL. My buddy left a board outside his house a block in from the beach, showered and by the time he came out some punks had taken it and hidden up in a dune. we found the board but not the culprits!

I have a beater so my carkey CAN get wet. I stick it in my leash holder for the key.

I do the same as scobey, i always just put my key in that little pocket in my leash. Hiding the keys in the gas cap is always a popular one too.

+2 for the leash pocket. I've done that with house keys.

I live in walking distance so I put my housekey on a shoelace and wear it around my neck under my top/wettie. My neighborhood isn't the best so I have to lock up, already gotten one board and some other equipment snatched. I had a guy try and break into my house while I was in it once. I opened the door and he took of like crazy.

I figure if you drive you could do the same thing with one car key and one house key. I don't even realize it's there and I've yet to lose it. I wore it around my wrist for awhile, but I mostly bodyboard and that really got in the way.

In winter key goes in the right calf pocket of my oneil suit.

In spring/fall key goes in the chest pocket of my xcel spring suit.

In summer key goes in board short pocket.

If i don't drive to the beach and just walk..i'll use my secret key outside the front of my crib!

I dont use remote locking devices etc, because 4 years ago, on a sunday afternoon at like 3:00pm, I parked my Eddie Bauer for explorer right on abbott st in front of the pier. I had a hide a key under my wheel well, some mexican gangsters stole it using the hide a key. Insurance paid me for it, but I had 4 brand new surfboards in the back that i got a total of $200 bucks for.... Pain in the as$. Truck recovered in the mexican ghetto in SE san diego 31 days later. Stripped...

Long story short, I always use the little key ring in my wetsuit and take the key with me. I also have a engine shut off feature that I set off every time I step out of my truck.... If anyone ever sees you hide your keys, you could get jacked... not worth it. sucks bad.

As I'm hiding my key on my tire or in my rim I look every driver in the eye as the pass and think to myself... "You don't want to do it."

    Works every time.

For those of you that have a key that cannot get wet:

Try going to Pep Boys etc... to get a copy of your key for $2-$3. The key should work to unlock the car but not to start it. You can now hide your real key in your car and keep the spare key in your wetsuit./boardshorts.............

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dPF3m_7KGts (< do not use to commit crimes, Jesus is always watching)

    Screw anytype of lock~!

if you make a copy of your key and use the copy to unlock your door YOU STILL HAVE THE KEY THAT WILL WORK IN THE EGNITION INSIDE THE CAR!!!! all someone has to do is break a window and they have a brand new car to joy ride then strip before you get out of the water...

I surf ac all the time, so i think about this everytime, but the best thing to do is keep NOTHING of value in your car.

when i have my camera and laptop with me for an after work sesh, i fold up my back seat lock it form the inside and keep everythign of value in the trunk. (the only reason this is 100% is becasue the latch to my trunk from the inside of the car is busted)

when i drive my explorer i leave the key inside the car in my secret compartment that no one knows about except my friends where i store my wax. then i lock my car via the key pad which no one knows the code except my family and my friends know. and when im done surfing bam hit the code and walla la keys are there. and when i drive my dads truck i hide the keys in a secret place in the bed or in the hitch since i always have my boat hitch in and my friend blocks traffic and no one knows where my keys are. but when i go to my beach house i just put my keys on the key ring since all the neighbors know who drives what car and no one goes and steals my keys.

what i always do is: when i park the truck,i throw my keychain & remote entry device in my console under a bunch of stuff.i then take my spare car key from my wallet & seal it in the pocket of my boardshorts, lock the truck up tight & head to the waves.everything's locked up & i have a secured key on my person.reguardless if you do like me or not,you really have no reason to take your house key to the beach, lock it up in the car, then you have 1 less thing to get lost.my thought is the less you have, the less you loose.
