Dudes, I get it. I know what a tsunami is, prolly anyone old enough to understand their language by 2004 does. My point is that I think that a tsunami wave of that size is something that the reefs and shores and beaches of a place like the Hawaiian Islands can handle. In 2004 some of those waves reached 75 feet and went a mile inland and people had to go to the fifth story of their hotels to escape it. This is 7 feet, all I'm hearing is how it's going to go a mile inland and people need to get to the fifth story of their hotel to escape it. 75 =/= 7. The effects of the two cannot be equal.

They are now saying that it has reached Hawaii and it is 6 feet. I don't see any destruction.

    /thread.

dont think of a tsunami as a wave.
    its misleading.

its more a super fast high tide.

any way. surf report for hawiaa(spelling) 7@ 3minutes.

In La Jolla now. Looking out at the cove. The mariner report says that La Jolla Shores and the San Diego bay have experienced 8 high and low tide changes in the past 60 minutes. There was only supposed to be one tide shift in 8 hours today... Very interesting... Now large surf yet. Still head high. The super fast tide shifts scared the seals away. They know something is up. The seal cove is empty. The water is backwashing all over the reefs... Pretty cool looking.

Is this right? a tsunamai is not just a wave, its a surge of water coming inland. And a 7 foot tsunamai means that where there was no water there could be up to 7 feet of water within minutes.

They know whats up for sure...animals have that kinda 6th sense about their home and whats going on in mother nature... The reason why this earthquake didn't cause sucha huge and devastating tsunami as everyone thought is because the type of fault that Chile' lies on. I heard someone talking about if this quake was somewhere else along the pacific rim and on a different kind of fault, there woulda been a huge tsunami. Its all about the upwelling of the earth under the ocean and how much of it gets displaced that causes the size of the tsunami's. But i guess for the Pacific they lucked out, except for Chile'. God Bless...Also saw a report that Garrett McNamara rented a chopper and was trying to surf the tsunami at Hilo Bay. That woulda been Nuts.
