Current Storm is SICK! In Sea Bright..I checked the wall...OMG!!...no more beach...town is taking a beating! The river is just backing up and flooding all of downtown... Worst i've seen in over a decade!
Yeah, the wave and wind charts and stuff are going bonkers over there. Looks pretty crazy... Looks like there might be a little patch of heaven for you guys sometime on monday when the dust settles, but that system is changing a lot right now. Good luck.
Anyone see the whale in OC? I believe it was first sighted from the Holiday Inn 17th then washed down the beach and ended up down on Talbot beach. Already gone, and they trucked it up the road already, probably for scientific testing. Pretty wild!
Finally got power back in Tinton Falls after 4 hours. The roads were mess out there.Tons of lights not working.
im super bummed i missed out on seeing that. never seen a whale before. feel really bad that it died.
has anyone else but me starting connecting a lot of dots here.....its one phenom after another...maybe this isn't a coincidence?
definitely a macker! checked it around 6 last night as the tide was almost high and it's definitely top 5 biggest i've ever seen. in seabright, it was coming up to the wall. the wind was so loud too i have never heard it like that
I've been thinking the same thing. Tsunamis, Earthquakes, Severe Storms ..... I don't necessarily believe in the 2012 hype but we'll see if things get progressively worse as that date gets closer.
damn, those are some sad pictures of the whale. Anyone know what happened to the dude? Did he swim in too far to shore since the huge windchop etc is all the way up the dunes. He just accidentally beach himself??? Thats sad man... Really sad... Make sure they take that thing far away. Like 10 years ago, the found a whale like that, they dug a huge whole in the sand and burried it by the beach, and for YEARS after that, the beach attracted tons of sharks and predators etc. up by oside. There was just whale scent all over that whole strech of beach for years.... freaky...
im not sure i believe a lot of theories about 2012 as well. but if you have knowledge or do some reading into indigenous tribes of north america, and also of other anchient civilizations, well you can see the sequence of events that they wrote of all those years back, is almost to a T. even politically speaking things are happenings before our eyes that have been predicted for thousands of years. im not sure what to think.
See, I just think that the Earth is doing it's normal thing. It's evolving. Just like humans and every other species, the earth evloves and chanegs, and based on minor temperatures changes and tons of other factors, it will continue to do some wild sh**... The earth has been frozen over and killed everything on it... It has also been scored, killing most of what was left on it... So, we are just on the million year upswing of the earth eventually doing something pretty gnarly and wiping out its inhabitants. I am talking millions of years here, so I dont THINK we have much to worry about for the next few generations.... We shall see... But the whole 1012 thing is bogus and always has been. The mayans wrotes that 5000+ years ago. They just stopped the calendar on that year because it was like thousands of years ago!!!! They finally go to 2012, and were like look, once 2012 comes around, those fools can continue this stupid calendar... I have already chizzled 5000 years out on these damn stones!! Its just a coincidence... And they got tired of writing an infinite calendar.... And although I am sure they passed on historical data about weather to each other, I SERIOUSLY doubt that the mayans knew anything about weather prediction and natural disasters 5000 years in advance... Just stupid internet theories in my book.
And wasn't it like 100 year ago or so that OCMD was basically re-created by that huge hurricane. It ripped open the inlet and created what is now assawoman bay right? It used to be closed off shoreline and a hurricane just ripped OC in half... So, every so often, its someone elses turn. MD usually is outside of the Hurricane belt, but not that year... So, it will happen again at some point, but the world wasn't going to end then, and it wont be ending now. Its just some freaky natural disasters....
what makes me totally not believe in the predictions is that how could a civilization with such phenomenal insight and sophistication (enough to be able to predict the end of the world 5000 years in advance), not be able to prevent themselves from vanishing off the face of the earth. maybe im being a little presumptuous, but shouldnt they have been able to use their divine look into the future to see whatever was coming that was going to wipe their own people out?????? I feel that we associate the mysteriousness surrounding ancient civilizations with supernatural skills and powers that we cannot conceive in our modern day. when you're dealing with the general public, things we cannot be explained are simply feared. you can see where this is going....
Hurricane of 1933...opened up OC inlet. Assateague island was connected of OC before that, and was private property with quite a few houses on it. The storms of 1933 and 1962 wreaked havoc on Assateague (both storms washed right over the island) and the landowners sold out to create the wildlife area. some of the remains of the houses are still around i think...Zippy would know.
There are many theories about the mayans. The craziest of which, is that they were "Aliens" who have since then left the earth... Obviously bogus.... The ones I believe are this: There was a very long drought recorded in their areas before they dissappeared. They say that because of the drought, and the over population of the Mayans within their own cities, that basically people began starving, and it basically turned into a civil war between the mayans to survive and maintain food etc... Once their cities had been raped of soil and any furtility, they left... That is the easiest theories... Another good one is that the fled from the Spanish since they had been attacking and taking over the Aztecs etc... So, the easiest logical answer was that rather than sitting in a huge city, waiting to be attacked and murdered, they disbanded and broke into smaller units which traveled elsewhere in Central/South America.... Some say that the Spanish brought Small Pox and a few other diseases over, which eventually killed all the mayans, but if you look at the time line, the mayan records all happened BEFORE the spanish did all that. So maybe the spanish were there easlier and did end up killing them off... One other cool idea is this: The mayans had a pretty accurate weather prediction system.... For instance, the would put Conk shells all around the coastal areas, facing in certain directions, so when cross wind and heavy tropical activity begam, the conk shells would all make certain pitch noises, warning the mayans about incoming hurricane and tropical storm activity.... So, although Conk shells are pretty cool, that is a pretty crapping prediction system, so in MY theory, they were wiped out by a hurricane... Or they had been hit over the years by so many, something terrible hit them, and they decided to leave their cities... Who knows... cool topic though... But ONLY one theory makes the 2012 argument even really possible, and that is if the Mayans were aliens!!!!! Although I have also heard that crazy people say that the gods were mad at the Mayans for figuring out the end of the world, and spreading the word about it, so the gods wiped them off the map for it.... Crazy greek sh**
Nice. Thanks for the facts... I knew it was 80-100 years ago or something... I have seen an overhead drawing of the area and what it once looked like. Pretty wild stuff. Is the current thin strech of beach in OC somehow better protected now, or will that basically be wiped off the map if a similar storm hits in the future??? Will Assawoman bay just become part of the Atlantic? I know its farfetched, but still... Then all the old condos and stuff could be considered artificial reefs =)
