I always used to skate goofy and surf regular. Never helped me improve upon my surfing so I switched to regular skating.
I skate & surf regular, but for some reason I've always liked pushing with the front foot while skating, which a lot of people tell me is a strange thing to do .
I surf, skate, and skim goofy but snowboard regular. Got a snowboard as a gift when i was 8 and it was set up regular. Helped a lot with switch snowboarding but never translated well to skateboarding. You guys who push with your front foot are called mongo footers, lose this habit. You look ridiculous and you will have a lot of trouble setting up for certain tricks.
my cousin does that because he thinks that it gives him a longer range to push, translating into fewer pushs and more speed. I don't do it though because I'm more comfortable the other way.
wow guys! I thought i was the only one like this! I surf and skate goofy, and snowboard and wakeboard regular and both feel completely natural. i guess it has something to do with the bindings, and which foot is better to drive with each set up. it does help alot with switch riding so i guess its a good thing.
I've been skating for about 6 years and snowboarding for 4 and im naturally a goofy foot. For some reason i cant pop up goofy so ive been surfing regular footed. Its a weird adjustment and i can't really do cuts and turns that well b.c im doing everything switch.
pushing with your front foot is called "mongo." Its a bad habit, and people will make fun of you for it.
How much do you think skating helps your surfing? i just started going to the park again hoping it will help my surfing.
it definitely helped me out. I started skating again after a year off and it helped a lot with turning and airs. skate a half pipe a lot and youll get the feel down for keeping your body over your board and crouching your legs to hold the board instead of leaning back and shooting it out. practice makes almost perfect...
Sakteboarding I am a forever novice at skateboarding (just got a longboard) but it is the BEST "crosstraining activity for everything else I do, including my spiritual health. A goofy footer at everything I've tried so far.
