just had a blank shipped to me and i guess during shipping two holes were punched into the blank , the holes do not go all the thur but are pretty deep and the holes are not that big maybe size of a thumb, now the company is extremely hard to deal and located in cali (last time i ever order anything from them ) so im not sending it back it would take months for a replacement or refund , so my question should i fill the holes with extra foam or fiberglass shreds or maybe just fill the holes with resin or just leave them alone and hope for the best , any help would be greatl

Depends on the size of the hole, but from your description it sounds like the holes are small enough that you can shape the blank and then fill the holes with spackle. If the holes are too large to fill with spackle you can use spray foam insulation. If you are in the NJ/PA/DE area and you are only buying single blanks you are better off driving to Philly and buying from Greenlight Surf Supply. Shipping a single blank really is not cost effective.

What about shipping insurance????? If they place you purchased the blank from used ups they have in there policey that if the item shipped is less than 200 dollars it covered and insured anything over 200 dollars you have to pay for insurance.

Spakle to fill in the wholes??? As in wall spakle I never heard of that. If the holes are that deep and are still there after the blank is shaped to you liking you can try filling the hole with some q-cell prior to glassing

I would shape the board first...you might find that some of the holes arent as big a deal once the blank is shaped. After shaping, spackle will work fine with holes that small. Ive also used resin with q-cell..either one is fine.

Youre in the Va Beach area right? If i lived there i would by all my blanks from the WRV factory on the way out to Kitty Hawk..great selection, good prices. Guys from Delaware drive all the way down there to pick up blanks from WRV all the time.

The company charges a flat 20 dollars to ship no matter how many you order , they piggyback there boards thru a company call fastnal so there is no insurance option, and the reason for only ordering one was i had used the company before and order 4 blanks it took damn near 4 month to complete the order and they had bunch of excuses so i said for 20 dollars shipping i will give them one more chance needless to say they failed

But regarding the Wrv factory how do i go about buying blanks, do i need to call a head, can i just show up

Yep, drywall spackle. The white stuff. Not wood filler. Just about every shaper keeps some around to fix little nicks and bumps on blanks before glassing. Before closed cell EPS it was used to seal the blank. Q cell and resin work, but add more weight. You can use spray foam insulation on PU blanks. Chemically it's almost the same thing. But most are yellow so you have to paint. It all depends on the size of the hole/ding and where it is on the board.

re WRV. Show up and the office by the factory and they will take you to the warehouse a block or two away and you can pick up the blanks you want. I have done it and they were very accomodating.

rDJ's advice for fixing the holes is right on. Choose which way you want. The best spackle to use is DAP Fast N' Final Lightweight spackle. Or Red Devil spackle but that's hard to find.
