1st, im never buying xcel again! this is why.... I bought 5mil drylock lobster gloves and 5 mil infiniti boots (both bamboo) and they were the worst pairs of Sh!t ive ever worn, i have them since late january (this year) and by the end of feb. my glove ripped inbetween the two fingers, and the "drylock" ripped. And in mid march my boots started leaking, first thing to get cold on my body and ive been wearing a 3/2 since march. Does anyone have these problems with xcel too? next year im just gonna buy the new hyperflex amp gloves/boots they look pretty sick.

I love xcel wetsuits for sure but I am upset with the quality of the drylock system.

I have ripped two gloves at the drylock seam just trying to get my hand in them and also have torn a hole in two boots where the loops are to pull your heel in. It seems like the horizontal seam connecting the drylock to the wetsuit is the weakest link, pulling on the end of the gloves or boots will surely tear it over time. Since then I have figured out how to get them off and on without pulling where it would harm the drylock seam.

This fall when I replace my winter gloves and boots I will probably go back to the regular infinity.

I have seen post on other forums where the drylock suits , boots, & gloves have failed in the same area as mentioned .

If you have been here awhile you know where I stand on wetsuits. I just repace my 7 year old Hyperflex 3/2 with a brand new 3/2 amp . It didnt get replace cause of workmanship the zipper got jammed at the bottom and I broke it trying to fix it myself. Not to shabby for 7 years of use . Wife bought me a new 3/2 for my B-day :D

I have had my Xcel 5/4/3 hooded infinity suit for 5 years along with the 3 mil gloves and 7 mil booties, and the gear is as good as the day I purchased it. the rubber is sublte with no cracks or rips. The stiching is all in tack with no tears or holes in it. Its the first time that I hear anything negative about Xcel products. I have Rip Curl 5 mil lobster claws that I have been using for 2 winter seasons and my hands actually sweat in. I also have a h20 oddessy 3/2 suit and 5 mil booties and that crap gave way after the first season of use. My friend had A hyperflex and it too had some holes in it durring the first season of use and he returned it to Hyperflex and the fixed it free of charge. Thats what I recommend you do with the Xcel products. Thier customer service is good and I'm sure they will make things right.

I have to mention that the way you treat your gear is important in regards to how long it will remain in good condition. My suits get rinsed in cold or lukewarm water imediatly after a surf sesh, I hang my gear on wooden hangers and air dry it with a fan in front of it. I don't expose it to sunlight and store then in an open room not a muggy dank closet. My friend keeps his in his car all year round and he has to peel it of the plastic bag that he keeps it. His suits are brittle and have degredation of the rubber all around. Not to mention they smell like a whales vagina. So be kind to your gear and in turn your gear will be kind to you for years to come! This s#*t is expensive why would'nt you take care of it, unless your sponsored then in that case, thrash it just too see how much of a beating it can take!

Yeah proper care for you wetsuit is VERY important. I rinse my stuff after each session it goes in the shower with me soon as I get home. Wooded or Plastic hanger and I let it drip dry in the shower in the winter months and in the spring and summer month they drip dry on a makshift clothes line the is in a shaded area .

For the past 7 years I have been a loyal Hyperflex customer. All my suits range from 7 years old to 2 weeks old and I just got rid of the 7year old suit cause I broke the zipper when I was trying to fix it . Well I still actually have it I just cant use it till the zipper gets fixed. I have tried almost every brand of suit out there and I have to say Hyperflex is were its at. They have great Quality, great price and they are local so you support a local business.

Plus I there suits are fit me the best I guess it how they are cut, they are like a second skin on me

7 years with a suit is impressive and the price is definitely a selling point compared to the other brands.. I'm gonna get one for my nephew who is new to the sport next winter and if it hold true.... they might have a new custie!

    Drylock suits suck!!!!!

I bought a 5 mil drylock in October wore it twice and all the threads started coming out of the seems. Sent it back to be repaired which was only suposed to take 2 weeks at the most and I didn't get it back for over a month. Then the same thing started happening on the boots and the suit again. Def not buying excel anymore because there only remedy was for me to keep sending it back.

I've had several xcel wetuits and boots over the years w/o any problems. Typically several years of heavy use, with one exception...the drylock gloves i bought a year or two ago didnt hold up very well, but other brands of gloves i've used...hyperflex, o'neill have been as bad or worse.

i take better care of my wetsuits more than most people i know, after every session i wash the inside and outside with not too hot water, then i hang them up in my garage... And matt, glad to know that the flow is warm and light... im sure its lighter than my 5/4 i have now..

I had a buddy who tore a big hole in the shoulder of his excel 5/4/3. He sent it back and they repaired that and did some other repairs all for no charge. If your gear didn't do what you expected it, I recommend sending it back and asking the company to make it right. You'll be surprised what they'll do for you to keep you happy.
