Keeps the cams down and the people out of the water! Just got done surfing chest almost head semi clean surf with good lines with almost no people out in midtown. No cam = 75% less people out easy. From the lineup you could barley see the trash cans on the beach crazy thick.

Because he surfs the fog, or because he's revealing something he shouldn't have to all of the site goers?

Yea it's stupid to tell people about this little fog secret, but it's not as stupid as revealing where the best break is or something... But it's definitely not idiotic to surf the fog. Conversely it's pretty nice out there, and the change of scenery is almost mystical. It does suck that your view of incoming swells is more limited though. It's always nice to be able position yourself better when you see a monster rolling in from afar, as that's just not possible on a foggy day. But overall there's really nothing wrong with surfing in the fog unless you're an inexperienced rider.

Just cause there's fog doesn't always mean theirs swell most of the time its flat as a lake, Its not really a secret more of a "oh **** i cant see the surf on the cam hmm this sucks guess im not surfing today" kinda thing... The only true way you would know is by checking it your self or checking a local report. It was good all down the coast not in just the sweet spots. It was nice out there not getting beat down by the sun and crazy how much of your view was gone almost like you were surfing in the middle of the ocean

I love sessions in the fog especially when it's hot in the summer. I like to see some other surfers down the beach riding their line and all I can see is a silluote. It's sick to just see an outline and not to focus on the actual person. :p

It's an attempt to boost the link clicks on his reporting website, generating him more hits to entice advertisers.

No worse than Lee getting on the radio and hyping every swell and the "secret" sandbar at 7th street to hope and get kids dropped off to surf infront of the shop and buy wax and stickers while they're hanging out.

I love it how, when Lee does the surf report on the radio, he almost always will say that the swell is one size up than it actually is... ie if it's chest high, he'll say it's head high, say chest when it's waist, etc.

The only time he can't actually build it up better than what the conditions are is when it's completely flat. Gotta love the guy though, no one else is willing to answer the phone at 6 when I roll out of bed and want a report. :D

So that's what you meant... Love the sarcasm! But yea, I didn't realise it until SkegLegs said it, that this is basically a PR move.

And OCSR - I didn't say that it's always a good surf day when it's foggy. I said that there's nothing wrong with surfing when there's fog. That would imply that there would have to be good surf AND fog, something that doesn't happen very often.

I love going out when it's really foggy... its like your riding in a room or something when you can't see the shore. I was out once and you couldn't see the next break down and we were hooting each other into some heavers and it was such a strange vibe, seemed surreal...

You are on Swellinfo that gives reports & has a live cam, genius.

The sarcastic response from dirtythirty34 was basically the locals way of saying "Finally a day where the fog will white out the live cam, eliminate most of the kooks & have a rare uncrowded session. Oh crap...nevermind, someone has started a thread already activating the wave hotline to inform them to come anyway. Let's add more people to mid-town."

You could of just added it to the surf report section without the thread.

the surf was up so much yesterday afternoon/evening here that it eliminated any kooks from getting in anyone's way.they couldn't handle it,couldn't get out, couldn't surf it,etc.,etc.,etcetera... when it's good size here they get put in their place.
