Looking solid for Saturday. Its looking like a WSW wind shift in the afternoon, so the east facing breaks will be the call.

Of course its looking like it will go more offshore overnight...

Hopefully a clean-up late Sat, otherwise it could be blown down by Sunday. It seems that the forecasted clean-up on these types of swells always gets pushed back the closer we get to that day.

ya, looks like it will get blown out pretty quickly saturday night, so hope for those winds to shift enough west during the afternoon.

Just wondering what anyone is thinking about Garden City, S.C or Pawleys Island? What would be my best bet? Also, should i try the morning (closest to high tide), or wait for the winds in the afternoon (low tide). I have to make a decision, my wife doesnt like me to be out 8-10 hours a day :) . Oh well, any info would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks,

    Drew

    Hi Drew,

I'd say Pawleys Island is going to be your best bet. The winds looks to go more WSW in the afternoon, so since Pawleys Island is a little more east facing it will be cleaner down there, then the Myrtle/Garden City area.

Good luck dealing with the wife

In SC, we have a shot at a afternoon clean up session, but only traces Sunday morning. The timing of the wind switch further north along the Mid-Atlantic breaks might hold off until early Sunday morning giving them a better shot at a nice glassy session.

CB should be going off saturday afternoon. i'd so that sometimes the wind shifts earlier than this forecast calls for though, as i recall happening in late jan. swell. sometimes i think WB is better on these SSE swells though since it is more south-facing. i know a week or two ago i was at CB and it was maybe waist and went to WB and got shoulder high mushbombs...so it's different all thetime. personally, i'd rather surf the wave at CB for the more intense drops and thicker waves, but will probably try WB in the morning...regardless, hope everyone gets some this weekend...peace

the hell with 62nd to 67th Naves in MB. I used to surf 64th before all the kooks got there. now its nothing but a bunch of CCU douchebags out in the water trying to look cool. All they do is get in your way. Dunes is decent, but has to be big and a rising mid tide to work.

I find 50th ave to be decent. I surf springmaid usually, sit right under the southside of the pier if you can get away with it.....on a good south swell and little wedge comes firing off the pier....good lefts....

I'll be in pawleys tom for sure

it looks like the winds will be favorable sunday 9/3 but there won't be much swell in the water. will there be leftover swell around sunrise at least? from the charts it seems like there may be some waist-stomach high ones before all the energy pulls away.

I agree that some spots/areas have the potential to turn-on today. In general, please do not post specific spots on forums. With the guidance of swellinfo, any knowledgeable person can make assumptions what areas will work best; so I dont think its necessary to mention them on forums to attract an even larger crowd to them. Thank you.

PI is always fun but the hard angle of these south swells aim towards surfside and springmaid. no real cleanup session to speak of in GC tonight. ridable but most of the sets weren't make-able. too much wind again.
