interesting feedback. I once saw in wakeboarding magazine (sometime around 2003/2004) some marine in Iraq who had a wakeskate in country and he would tie a rope behind a truck and ride in the canals or one of the two big rivers in the country. Cant remember exactly but he sent pictures and I thought that if we ever went to war with Australia or South Africa, there would be a lot of coastal volunteers ha ha.
If some one snakes you it doesn't mater if they are military or not, its a KooK move. Everyone has a right to surf. And if you get snaked handle it yourself!! Mad love to all you service men and women!!!!
VB in general has a high kook factor in the summer anyway. I have met some straight up military shredders in my time, but the majority suck ...as does the majority of surfers in the general population. Think about it... most surfers in the world are beginners, weekend warriors, or summer surfers only... translation... not that good. So it is unfair to say the members of the military are bigger kooks than the civilian population. My wife (USN) can log the small stuff and bodyboard the bigger stuff... shredder... no, but not a kook by any means either. She has surfed Guam, Puerto Rico, El Salvador, Hawaii, and Costa Rica... probably more places than any **** talking 22 year kid who has never left VB has surfed.

Its funny actually all the places you listed, I've surfed them, except guam, been to loads more too, Mexico, California, Bahamas, Dominican Republic, Barbados, just to name a few... And then there is that fact that I only live in VB 3 months of the year, and that I am a Colorado citizen. Soooo sorry to burst your bubble Smithfield. It was probably a passive agressive statement, seeing as your name is Stranded In Smithfield. I'll venture to say that it is you who rarely leaves the confines of our not so great state of Virginia.
yo man, (bonersurfs) surf and shut the hell up...there's a bunch of kooks everywhere, just 'cause you think the place belongs to you when you paddle out there doesn't mean it does....there's assholes everywhere, if you haven't realized that yet then you must be living under a rock...and if the place is that crowded, venture out a little, you might surprise yourself at how many other spots there are that all those kooks don't know about. Respect to the service men and women and their families, they risk their lives for us, no matter if you agree with the wars that our gov't starts or not, they still put their lives on the line, leave their families for months or years at a time, etc... for all of us...so can it, surf it up & respect others!
Yep, several spots around N. Oregon. Some very nice waves and scenery up that way and a slew of good brew pubs and coffee joints. I would recommend 5mm suit, even in Sept. You might get by with a 4/3, booties and gloves. Just take your rubber and be prepared. During the Fall to Spring months I usually cart both my 6/4 and my 4/3 (and add the Ti vest with integrated hood). On military folks, you will find a huge rack of surfboards at the Navy special operations command in San Diego that the SEAL folks ride right out front in Coronado. I also know a fellow who was stationed in Vietnam and loved it because he was assigned life guard duty at the well know surf spot.
I enlisted in the Corps - as opposed to the Army- solely for the surfing opportunities (Camp LeJeune, NC - Wilington,. ABeach, OBX) Camp Pendleton (Trestles, all of San O) Kaneohe Bay Hawaii, various Naval Air Stations all around the world, etc. While it didn't QUITE work out that way (i.e. the 2 years I spent at an I&I in West Virginia) its all good. BonerSurfs, you are a tool. I hope some PTSD case slaps the living **** out of you someday.
