AGAIN!!!!!! UGH, this thread was started to see if anybody on here knows the, EFFECTS OF A TROPICAL STORM DURING AN OIL SPILL?????????
dude, where's surf rider in gulf? I dont here them doing anything? I seriously will not support them they f*ucked us over in long branch telling us let the government pump sand at north end (WAS a really good spot) and they'd build an artificial reef in long branch somewhere... They pumped, what 3-4 years ago?, and still they've made no plans of it. Ass holes... So tell me fupafest, why should i support surfrider?
IMHO, yeah. I doubt this org could put one dent in those knuckleheads in congress. They have their own agenda's and until we have a pres who surfs or has surfed you can forget about any surfers "rights". BP is picking up the tab for this. Not the US citizens. Osama even said so. I will not spend one dime on this when a company that is fully responsible is going to do the cleanup. Any money you give is money that BP doesn't have to pay. Not trying to knock your concern though bro. I am concerned also but there's nothing we can do right now. To answer your question about the effects of trop storm on this. If you think about it, there will be some 30-40 mph winds and some rain. There might be a storm surge which will probly wash the oil over most of the barriers that are set up if they aren't moved back. No acid rain, and I doubt a lot of movement of the slick from where it is now to around the panhandle etc. Anyone think Puerto Rico will see effects of this? Have any models that show what will be happening over the next few weeks? It's like you just heard about the spill, we are not desensitized we have just come to the realization that there's really nothing we can do right now. Wait, I just thought of something. We should just nuke the slick! Seriously, someone did suggest that. I saw it on the news. But they want to nuke the well so the bedrock will just crumble around the well and collapse it.
An accident, LOL. That has to be the most naive comment on here. There is eyewitness testimony that BP didn't follow proper regulations and even took risks that they know could result in this spill. All in the name of money. Before this testimony came out, I did believe it was an accident. Now that the actual facts state otherwise, you can not say it was an accident. You must be a company man and love BIG OIL. You are either with BP or you are with the US citizens. I'm assuming your with the fascist corporate state. Just keeping going to Walmart and buying useless products that they use to keep your mind off how bad they are ****ing you up the ass. We will live in their filth while they live in the mansion on the hill. By the way, the governement doesn't control anything. They work for BP and all other companies in the fascist state. Therefore, they are making decisions that benefit the corporations. They want BP to try to salvage the well. People really believe it can't be plugged, lol. We can hit a zit on your ass with a nuclear missile, but can't plug this. Give me a break and please don't repeat what you hear on the media. Oh, they have never done this at these depths and it's like surgery 1 mile underwater. Bull****! All upper management had to know of the decision to not use cement mud which eventually caused this disaster. They really need to impose the death penalty on these BP scumbags or they have to be imprisioned in a real federal prision. They broke the law. You place these white collar scumbags in prison and you won't see this happen again. You kill them and you never see this happen again. Line them up and execute them. That will be remembered as the people's day in this once great country. Presidents should be held accountable (war crimes, corporate fraud, etc.) too, but that will never happen. Both the govt and corporations have the get out of jail free card while we get imprisoned for the same crimes. That's justice. Time to take it into our own hands and create militias that take our country back! You also say it's not going to happen again, lol lol lol. You keep believing your corporate gods. It would never happen after the last spill in the gulf where they tried the exact same solutions. Hmmm, blowout preventer again. The persian gulf spill and the spill in Australia. The list goes on and on. They have a risk calculator. They will take the safety risk for profit and roll the dice. Then, every ten years, they clean up. They make more money this way then always imposing correct safety measures and never having a cleanup.
I really should title this threa ADD b/c everyone gets so off topic...but. They pumped 2 years ago. Also, how can you blame surfrider for trying to come up with alternatives to the old style of pumping. The gov't hired the company and PAID for it, not surfrider. They hired a company from Virgina to come up with a alternative design for creating a surf break. I watch the whole process of the pumping and could tell you from the start that it was a bad idea but blaming surfrider for pressuring long branch to try something different is just dumb. If it was up to LB they would have pumped all the way up to sea bright. Again, if you were invovled you could have had a vote instead of doing nothing. Also, the reef your talking about is from ASR which has been proven to fail also, do you blame surfrider for that too or the million dollar company? You must understand that its the ocean and nature, although the solution to long branch sucked it was at least an attempt to make the surf better...maybe next time
Isnt ASR the same group that made the reef in india, and even the asp wanted to have an event there now? And what do you mean "but blaming surfrider for pressuring long branch to try something different is just dumb" you mean trying something different is pumping sand? ok ***etfest, im done writing. this is all you now.
Yes, it's rather simple to comprehend. They have commited crimes which will destroy our environments and millions of peoples lives. They have also murdered 11 people with decisions that they know could result in an explosion. Therefore, they are more evil than people on death row. They are not above the law and should be convicted of several crimes (including murder, violating the clean water act, several ethics violations, etc. , etc., etc.) They just killed that man last night for killing a lawyer. His crime wasn't even close to their crime. It's time for justice and people should demand it!
After they kill Tony Heyward, they can use his body parts to plug the well. They can still call it a junk shot since he is a piece of **** junk.
If you want info on oil spill and the what might happen if a hurricane enters the Gulf check out http://www.wunderground.com/blog/JeffMasters/show.html. Great spot for info on tropics. Been checkin it out for years. Straight science son.
The world is going to come to an end in 2012 anyway so who gives a **** about the oil. Anyone agree? hahaah
The oil is concerning, but I'm really worried about the "dispersants" they're still pumping into the water. I haven't been able to find many sources that can say with any certainty what the short- and long-term effects of those toxins will be, let how/where they're being carried in the currents.
I can't find where I read it. But a while back when the spill first happened I read the the dispersant was known to cause cancer. It also causes "respiratory, nervous system, liver, kidney and blood disorders" in people. In fact, the use of this chemical was banned in the US, but when the spill happened, the ban was mysteriously lifted. But anyways, the study on the dispersant showed that ambient air samples that contained .1 percent of the dispersant chemical caused caused cancer in a large number of lab rats. The scary thing is that ambient air samples in the gulf contain .8% or more of the dispersant. The chemical is called corexit, and the worst part, its made by a chemical manufacturing company that is owned by BP and Exxon. So in other words, BP is still making money off this oil spill, just from a different company. Look all this stuff up, its pretty ****ed up. The chemical is called corexit, and its produced by Nalco Holding Company. PS. The only thing I hate more than Big Oil, is Big Chemical... Lord knows those greedy bastards would be rubbing elbows, trying to find a way to make profits off this mess...
Something else concerning is that Tony Hayward sold approximately one third of his shares in BP a month before the Deepwater Horizon rig exploded. Which makes one wonder if he had prior knowledge that the rig would explode...
The sky is falling. . . Henny Penny is alive and well and is usually known as FOX News. It boosts their ratings, and as for oil on the Jersey Shore, I thought that happened a year ago when the show debuted on MTV. I mean, talk about a slick in the water and on the shore. . . sheesh!
