So, A lot of you guys haev been quite helpful in my planning a honeymoon trip to Maui this fall. We booked everything. I am in the Royal Lahina Hotel which is right in front of Shark Pits and the Harbor. I have been looking around for cool activities in Maui. My friends in CA have all told me that I "have to" drive the "road to hana". I have been googling hiking in Maui. And i found links and info on some pretty cool, basic trails, mostly along the volvanic coast line.... Ive been deep into mexico, and in the carribean etc, but ive never been in a place that has deep rainforests and jungles like maui.... I really want to take a couple simple hikes into the jungle/rainforest.... Most of the stuff online is all Guided Tours and waterfall tours and tours tours tours... Its my honeymoon. I dont want to spend in with a guide =) I dont want to be deep in some sketchy jungle with drug crops and local pyschos... And i probably should be going deep into some place that requires guides... But has anyone been to Maui and taken any cool rainforest or jungle hikes, that would be doable with a Fiance? I can hike and rock climb and all that. My fiance is not really like that. So we will need something pretty easy. I just want awesome scenery... The coastline is easy and obvious, but if anyone remembers any really good nooks in the forests out there, let me know =) I will probably post this in the HI forum, but you acn hear a pin drop in there. Any help is appreciated.
i venture to maui a lot. Shark pit and the harbor are really fun waves. Your also about 15 minutes from a fun little wave called "s hi t ties" and the bay. As for hiking their are a lot of little places along the hana drive and yes it is a must!!! Stop by the bamboo forrest and they also have these trees with insane colors. Another must it the sunrise from the top of haleakala. Enjoy your trip
