Sharks and the Oil spill: Answered

it really sucks for gulf surfers, but what about US?

a similar thing happened in OCMD a few weeks ago when there was a big ass school of blue fish i think right up against the beach because a whale was eating them or something and the whale was super close to the beach at like 102-107th street, if you dont believe me ill post pictures that my mom got while she was at her friends condo i just havent really felt like posting them hahah

 

Not Sharks, but I did notice a huge amount of rays in the water on Saturday, never seen so many schools of rays in the 2-3 hour time frame I was out down to Assateague.

They were all heading North, not sure if it is a normal amounts, but it was the first time in my 18 years of surfing down to Assateague I have seen sting rays in those numbers.

 

Bout 13 years ago I was surfing Indian River and there were so many rays in the water it was hard to step off your board in the shallows. I have also been there when there were so many jellies that you couldn't paddle without hitting one. That session didn't last long. Looking back I long for those type of infestations.

 

I was at Chinco all last week. Lots of Skates in the water. Pretty cool seeing them ride the surf. They stay right at the top. I took off over a bunch of them. Glad their harmless. Havnt seen them out there for years. A few dead jellies in the water. Plenty of dolphins. They rule.

Yeah, I would have to say I never have seen the quantity of skates/ray that were hanging around that weekend. The water was almost tropical Sat and Sunday though, don't know if that had anything to do with it.
