Wow. I disagree with that one. I think as usual, the sleepers will be RBs. Chris Johnson (#1 projected) will not break 2000 yards. He will have a MUCH slower season this year. Guys have had 5 months of watching his film and figuring him out. Happens every year to those top 2-3 running backs... The one bit of advice that I will give to the fantasy football world, is VALUE your Quarterbacks this year.... 5-6 years ago, th NFL was a run heavy, hard hitting ground league. Things have changed drastically. Nowadays, in a normal points league, Drew Breeze, Peyton Manning and Phillip Rivers are racking up 25-32 points per game... Running backs on a ridiculous day only hit 20-25. So, although most online ranking systems and everything else still value running backs WAY too much. You need them, but over all, your QB is going to average more points in 2010-11 season. The NFL is changing, so keep up. Draft a solid QB, as well as running backs... In recent years, guys will pick up 2-3 RBs then get a QB. Its INSANE!!!!! So, those are my sleepers. The QBs... and NOT VINCE YOUNG!~!!!! Alex Smith in SF... Sleeper... Flacco... Not really a sleeper, but he's under ranked by far... With Bouldin, he is gonna be a gun slinger.. Arron Rodgers is always a good bet.... DONT PICK: Vince Young. DONT PICK: Matt Leinart DONT PICK: Mark Sanchez DONT PICK: Matt Ryan So rather than sleepers, that who I am saying... DONT PICK!!!! One more sleeper... Ryan Mathews, RB for the chargers... I went to their camp a couple times, including this morning and he looks really good. All the local media and coaching staff has already said he looks quicker than LT ever did. I watched him make a direction change going full speed and burnt 4 guys down the sideline... He is a rookie to pick up in a later round. He will be available, and from what I see and hear, the Bolts plan on hiving him tons of carries... Good Luck. I can't wait!!!!!
dude above me is completely wrong, the nfl is still run first so much so that most teams split carries between backs, look at the great teams they all have a two back system even the pass happy saints , have bush and thomas . To say Matt ryan is over rated is completely wrong , the falcons are a sleeper team they have alot of talent on the offensive side of the ball But for a sleeper pick take The lions qb , Stafford he can easily go 30 -15 touchdowns to picks , He plays in a fairly weak division , Brett cant play for ever and Cutler has not shown the bears jack.
I still disagree dude. Yes the NFL is a run league. I AM TALKING ABOUT FANTASY POINTS DUDE!Q!! not real football.... And if you think Matt Ryan is going to have a great year, good luck to you. The falcons are NOT a sleeper, because they are already supposed to get second in their division. Sleepers have to be projected low. The falcons are not a sleeper... And if you want Stafford, and his 2 interceptions per game, have at it haus. The first rule of Fantasy QB drafting. Dont draft a great QB that plays for a sh**y team. If your defense is on the field the whole time, you cant get points. And those are just my opinions... But you guys are wrong, or you play in strange leagues, because if your Running backs are INDIVIDUALLY outscoring your quarterback in the past year or two, then you have a terrible QB.... I have had the same three QBs the past 5 years. Peyton Manning, Drew Brees and Philip Rivers... Every year, and i mean EVERY SINGLE YEAR, they have more overall points at the end of the year than any of my running backs... Dont believe me, do the math. Look it up. Its facts,., I understand the logic behind loading up on RBs in the draft, but that is only because there are 2 and sometimes 3 spots available to start RBs, so that alone makes them valuable and a must draft in the first few rounds... But look up all the rankings, you havent noticed all the Qbs in the top 15?????? THAT NEVER HAPPENS... Its started in 2008 and has grown every year... Like I said, those are opinions... But if you plan on drafting Mathew stafford in the 6th round after laoding up on running backs. You will lose your league unless its full of kooks... Just my opinion, but i disagree with everything Billabong said. He is my point. He jsut said everything I am trying to say is a misconception in fantasy as of 2008. Peyton Manning was averaging 30 points a game last year, where Chris Johnson was in the low 20s... Can you guys not add???? All you need is one QB... So either go, QB, RB, RB, WR, RB or RB, QB, RB, WR, RB DONT GO: Rb, RB, RB, QB, WR or your squad will be busted... Im telling you...
BILLABONG: And the fact that you pointed out that every team is splitting carries just further my point. Even your RB1 loses MAD carries.... Every team... From AP, The Michael Turner, to Ray Rice getting snaked by McGahee every game... Rbs are a dime a dozen now, and utilized whenever needed. Its not as rewarding as it was. Back in the day, if you drive 70 yards on the ground, the team owes it to you to let you get the TD... Nowdays, they let ray rice drive 80 yards, then in the red zone, they put in McGahee.... Which is why all RBs are losing a little value each year. QBs throw ever pass, every game. They score every touchdown in the air... Its a numbers game, and your QB is the most valuable guy on your team unless you get the 1-3 pick
Zach,I do agree with you on Matthews being a stud. They have a great passing game to throw the defences off balance.Im in a keeper league so I have to decide to keep Rivers,Moreno or Austin.Right now im leaning towards Moreno but still on the fence.Im telling you Vince Young.Thats why they callem sleepers.+1 G Vibes
Check the local media on Moreno, I heard something about his leg or toe this week. Check the denver papers. Rivers will have another huge year. we signed gates for a HUGE contract. Biggest in history.
And for Vince Young, I wish him well, but on a personal level, I can't stand the guy. He is an emotional wreck, a cry baby, an excuse maker. Pushing hookers on the floor in a strip club... Everything about that guy screams red flag. I just don't think he has what it takes MENTALLY to be successful in the league. Many an athelete are plenty talented, but just dont have the total package. I think Vince is a gifted player, who isn't the total package... But hey, with that Tenn Defense, he could have a lot of opportunities. Its all about Cjohnson though. If he can follow up the year he had last year, a TON of pressure will be off of Young. Which is good for him.... I wish him well though. I just am not a fan. He is like Jay Cutler. All talk. No business on Sundays. Just a big mouth and a cannon for an arm, but that doesnt win games. That leads to mad interceptions.
I dont know if you committed to your 2 keepers yet, but here is a story this week from Denver. http://www.fftoolbox.com/football/nfl_news.cfm?news_id=1788 Apparently, Moreno is out for at least 3 weeks with an ACL injury. He also suffered a Hammy injury Sunday as well... So, he should be ok by September, but I would monitor that situation until your draft.
lets get a Fantasy league started , using people from this site, we just got to set it up using espn and pick time we can get online and draft
Oh come on now. Don't be sour about losing LT haha. You're just jealous of Fireman Ed because he stole your supahstahh!!! J-E-T-S! JETS JETS JETS
I have two drafts coming up, I am really serious about picking up a qb in the 1st round, probably Brees or Manning. I hope to pick up CJ Spiller in the mid-rounds if hes still available. One of my leagues is gonna be a nut roll, 16 teams...
football....? I read a few articles where even the NFL commish is quoted as saying the 'pre-season' games are just invented & inflated events to fleece football fans of their money for tickets to watch third line players & drink 8 buck beers. Another aspect of the sport: actual plays take up less than 20 minutes of time. So if you're watching a 3-hour 'game' on the boob tube, you're sucking down over 2 1/2 hours of commercial crapola along with those watered down lite beers. Long live Tivo, eh...? And the final aspect that drove me away from the football scene: there's no way in this world those guys on the lines could pass legit drug tests. 300 pounders who can run down a back ...? Puuuuuleaze. Steroid central. Worse than baseball. Maybe even worse than professional road cycling. Go Yankees. Still the toughest thing in sports: hitting a round ball with a round bat. One man's opinion, although I know some guys will accuse me of being un-American for criticizing football. Open fire !
