Couldnt agree more. its been really week, especially starting after that big swell we had at the end of march. seems like right after that, it just died, besides a few small swells here and there and one good one in may. lets hope the tropics dont sh$t the bed after all the hype and talk of an over active season being forecast with all of the variables lining up to produce. if it sucks, i will be forced to never let myself get excited again about a forecasted amazing tropical season.

the last couple weeks have been fun but i think it seems like it has been so much worse this year because you know besides the fact that we have barely had any waves, but also because this hurricane season was so hyped up to be sick, and we havn't gotten sh*t, just hope as we hit peak storm season we can get a couple of em here and there to make up for it

    this year has been poor.
only a few days had any waves in january.
until the end of february (25th) through march was good.
then april fooled us with a good swell the first couple days, because every successive 'swell' was tiny, april 7,9,17,18,26,27 were micro-swells.
may 3 was a micro-'swell',then nothing for 2 1/2 weeks, when we got those two good swells the 19th,a few really small days, then the swell that pumped for days, starting the 24th,with the 25th/26th being the best, continuing on.but, that may 19 was the first true swell of any size at all for 6 1/2 weeks, when april was awesome the past few years before.
forget june, take it off the calendar this year with a handful of tiny little mush, not swell, until finally that small good day on tuesday the 29th shaped up nice, yet small,in the afternoon.

july and august were average, but above average compared to the past few years, with a few decent size swells and a lot of little days in between.

january/february,april/may,then forget june, that's five awfull months out of 8.
march was great, and this summer is going ok so far.

but yes, this is a very bad year for surf up here.

maybe it did for you b/c you start surfing in july

the best day of surf this year was the S swell in january. solid overhead barrels.

i haven't had that butterfly nervousness feeling in my stomach since then. god, do i miss it..

I couldn't agree more, 2010 has be over really really lame. We have had only a handful of clean swells bigger than shoulder high. Idk if its me but it just seems that when swell does come something always seems to mess it up, wind, direction, sand banks, tide, ect. I can only recall one day when it all came together for that Jersey magic. I'm sorry but onshore waist high dribble does NOT in my book count as an epic session even if it is summer. I would prefer to surf one or two "good" swells rather than these lackluster pieces of crap we have been getting. Come on Mama Erf, throw us a bone!

    keep the faith

keep the faith, the waves will come. don't forget to work out between now and then! far better to go lift and run than sit around and sulk. Then, when the waves come, you'll be in great shape to go charge. Btw, I think, comparatively speaking, we're still doing fine. It's still "mid-August". There are plenty of good past hurricane seasons that didn't produce squat by this stage of the game.
