What is the best 3/2 full suit?

  1. Hi everyone,:)
We are looking to get 3/2 full suits to take us from May to Sept.
The surf shops suits range from 75.00- 300.00. Can anyone recommend a good suit within a reasonable price range?

i have a 1 1/2 yr old rip curl fireskin that takes me through late november. its worth it to pay more and get a good quality suit that will last you up to 5 years (if you don't get fat and if you take care of it) then to get some used piece of garbage.

Extreme, I will answer this for you without all the fuss.........There are many suits on the market that will meet your requirements. 1st, The fit is most important. Different suits will fit you slightly different so try on two or three brands and buy the one that feels the best. 2nd, I would recommend one level down from the top of the line for this time of year or the best that you can afford. You will still want sealed seams. 3rd, everyone will offer you different opinions as to which brand is best, as long as you stay with a well known company and don't buy an entry level suit, you will be OK. I personally would recommend an O'neill Physco 1 or and Excel, but fit is the key. Wash it out after every use, don't dry it in the sun, and hang it up when not in use and it will last many years. I have suits that are 3 and 4 years old that are in good condition and are used almost daily. Hope this helps.

Thanks Charlie, we have Oneil and Excel winter suits now and they have been great no complaints. The shops have excel suits in various styles, what do you think of the 3/2 infinity excel ? Its more pricey, they have lower end excel suits as well, I think a super light was one of them.

Get yourself a 3/2 infinity excel or a West... IMO there the best suits.

expensive and worth every penny. warm flexible and dry. I've already worn it this spring...last week on a warm day for two hours and wasn't cold.

    Extreme,

I have never regretted buying a good suit and have kicked myself in the ass for buying crappy ones!! Go for the Infinity:)

I definately agree with you guys on getting the XCEL Infinity Series, definately a good suit. But my opinion, if you don't mind spending a few extra bucks on a solid 3/2, get a Body Glove Vapor. As soon as I got my first 4/3 Vapor about a year ago, I have since switched all of my suits to the Vapor including my 3/2, 2/2, and my 5/4. The water repellant technology allows you to stay incredibly warm in conditions where you might not have in an average suit.

honestly, I try to keep my 3/2 at around $100. I currently have a ripcurl that was $89. I have had this one for 3 years and use it a lot in the late spring and early fall. I find that the extra features arent always worth it on the 3/2 suits or spring suits that I wear when the waters warmer. I mean if you dont care about the cash, go for it. Now my winter suit is a different story, for them you have to get one that is very sealed or else you will freeze. just my .02
