I just graduated from CofC. Check out my blog and you'll get a feel for what Folly has to offer. www.follysurf.blogspot.com
The Washout is a famous overpopulated spot on Folly. Its best on small days. However, on bigger days (i.e. hurricane swells), I recommend IOP. Its beach is longer and the jetties block less of the beach face which allows for a larger wave window. I recommend anywhere from 20th to 28th.
i really just need to meet up with some people and get out. if anyone wants to meet up and go surf hit me up on face book my name is chris eckard
Hey Chris, One word of advice....The Washout is very territorial and is super packed when the waves are good....I wouldn't suggest surfing there until you really get to know the area. Any side street from the Pier to 11th street are good breaks and you can meet a lot of cool people. You could also join the local ESA and meet some guys your age. There are a lot of surfers that go to CofC so it won't take long.
I heard there's lots of sharks at the Washout. Especially tomorrow. Probably wanna stay down closer to the pier, just to be safe
