I'd like to read an unbiased review and evaluation of the MS Vipers. Something more than a press release. For example, how is the foot pocket? Does the foot pocket have the same limitations as other Vipers (narrow width and narrow height) when scaling up a size for cold water (e.g., adding 5mm of rubber)? Any reviews anywhere?
Here's a discussion: http://www.bodyboarder.com/forums/showthread.php?t=4015&highlight=vipers They're saying the foot pocket has more width.
Thanks for the reference. I posted an even more detailed question on bodyboarder.com. The foot pocket was a real issue -- I exchanged several e-mails over the years with the Vipers owner, Mike Stewart and one or two Vipers sponsored riders trying to drive home the need for a larger foot pocket for cold water usage. The blade appears shorter than the Viper 5" model, but wider. I am curious how that translates in the water - what appears to be a similar "foot print" with the Tech2 left me unimpressed (otherwise, a very nice fitting swim fin) in cold water operations.
i actually use the viper ms model. i was using BZ rubbers before that and i can tell there is more power in my kicks and it is much easier to DK. i have a wide foot and the only problem i run into is that my feet rub just a lil on the inside right before my big toe. other than that i love them
Anyone got a chance to try em on before you buy em? That's the only way I'd be convinced to get em. Anyone around the MD/DE area know anyone carrying them?
http://www.churchillfinsreview.com/viper-fins-review/ I wrote this, Iv used them quite a bit in the past. General vipers were too hard on my feet personally. But the MS does have a different and wider pocket than the normal ones.
They are pretty stiff, tends to hurt my ankle joint after long sessions. I had to glue in neoprene strips around the foot opening. They made some serious ulcers... better than my Churchill Slashers. Better than my BZ tips. Better than my Churchill Makapuus
Jeez I thought this one was gonna be legit but it's bumped from last year. Tech 2's are great for DK, definitely sacrifice some thrust for comfort, but since my quads are like Ivan Drago's it's really a non issue.
The yellow dots are a little stuff but I bought the orange ones too and they have perfect flex w/I sacrificing power and there great for dk
