Why so many close outs i have surf bigger waves with out cose outs seemed evey spot all over jersey today was closing out is it the long period swell causing this?
Monmouth coutny (Spring Lake/Sea Girt) 7am on was all closed out. Caught 1 and ate about 6.... I did notice that the waves were pushing back out from the beach and smaking against inbound waves--was that causing the closeouts???
It's a combination of the long interval swell, swell angle, and ****ty sandbars. Hopefully we'll make out better with Earl's swell. It will be at a steeper angle. more SE rather than ESE. I didnt surf any of this swell yet because of work and the dumping surf. Kind of bummed out.
close outs Ocean city and lonport were closeouts all weekend too. a couple more makeable sections on sunday, especially in oc, but we really got the shaft on this swell.
you just had to know where to go...a little searching & exploring will do you good. i haven't ridden one close out this swell & it's been super fun.
I couldn't believe the people repeatedly trying to surf closeouts over and over. How many times do you need to get worked before the light bulb goes on and you go some place else. Dropping in and trying to out race the closeout so you can ride the soup dont seen any fun to me and those few were the lucky ones. Hopefully mid week will get better.
NWW became closeout city after the tide switched up but until High tide it was super fun , and crowded. kinda a every man for him self day . You go to take off on a wave and you got one guy in front of you froping in on the shoulder and they you got one guy in the foam trying to sneak around you . LOL I got one of the best tubes in a long time today and i here a guy in the foam saying "YO" at me so I said "yo your self " and came out the tube and pulled out of the wave . All morning it was a zoo but what ya gonna do I guess
