Friday evening in south nags head the waves were was going off. Most places were crowded this place was empty and pumping. Pays off to do some recon. Bars have moved around with all this swell we have been blessed with lately.

I drove all day trying to find a place that works. The wind finally backed off this afternoon in VB. I had a short session in semi-clean shoulder high waves at the North End.

    Saturday was ok

Surfed North end VB after work Firday you could tell there was swell coing in, but the high tide and what not it was coplete junk, not worth going at all. I went Saturday though checked VB pier, and decided on a spot on the north end BUt I paddled out around noon ( being low tide was at 11ish) and it got really fun, textured from the wind, but the wind went light north, held the rights open and when the tide came in it got really steep but hard to find an open face. I surfed north side of the pier on Sunday around 3-6 and it was fun head high pwerful sets. YOu took about 5 on the head for every good right coming off the pier but it got treacherous aorund 6 with the tide going dead high. But still fun powerful surf for VB>

So what exactly are the surfing rules for the Oceanfront in VB now that it's past Labor Day? Are surfers allowed to be in the water anywhere on the Oceanfront? If so, I guess the only thing to contend with is finding a parking spot...

McLovin, yeah after Labor day we get priority again, well you cant surf within 200 feet of the pier casue of fisherman but.....

Anyway Im looking forward to finding little sandbars after this swell that may have popped up along the boardwalk area after the IGor swell passes. The inside at the pier yesterday was crazy current so there has to be sand moving around as much current is ripping on the inside.

I know theres a ton of sand aournd that steel rig at 62nd.

Thanks. Since I've been here I managed to stay away from surfing the Oceanfront, but I might try it once in a while, just to have different surroundings.

I actually surfed about 200 yards south of that rig yesterday late afternoon, and I was probably the guy closest to it. There were some fun nugs around 6, when surprisingly the wind backed off. There was a huge run-out where I was though.

Thanks for... um... yeah ..i guess for nothing. Anyways, Its a matter of principal. Sure the damage is done, but its an effort in the direction of not blowing up all of the other less spoken about spots. But rejoice- its about to be winter and the crowd will exponentially shrink.
