I have been looking at the Olympus 7000 ...bla blah... $160... blah... 10MP and this pantex for 300 with 12MP. I would like to take nice videos and good pictures in the ocean in that price range. Any suggestions from surfer kind?

Look up the GoPro. Few of my buddies have it and they get some sickkkkkk fooottty. It clamps right to the front of your bodyboard right by the leash.

i used the pentex for a few years. excellent camera, takes photos quickly after pressing the shutter button (important). Maybe you can pick an older model up off of ebay. Go pro is solid as well.

    yeah, also shopping...

Anyone know which ones float? It would be sweet to be able to pass off camera duty while everyone is out in the water.

    Olympus Stylus 1030 SW

I have the Olympus Stylus 1030 SW which is waterproof. I just posted some pics that my friend took this weekend. I'd like it if there was an easier way to have it with me while I'm on my board. I put it on a string to wear around my neck but then it gets caught in my hair. Besides that, the quality is really good.

    I guard with my life

I have the Pentax Optio W60 waterproof camera.

    Tom Blake (1902-1994)

Tom Blake was a legendary surfer and waterman. He was a pioneer in the invention and refinement of surfing and lifesaving equipment. His notable achievements would fill a book, and his impact on lifesaving continues today. His inventions include the hollow surfboard, paddleboard, rescue torpedo, ring buoy (life ring), sailboard (windsurfer), surfboard fin, and waterproof camera housing. Blake served in the U.S. Coast Guard for three years, during WWII. He taught swimming, ocean rescue and munitions loading.

The Pentax W60 is a good one.

There is also a Fuji Finepix WP? 12 pixel waterproof for about $150 that I have been looking at. Seems to have decent reviews. I like the lime green one for visiblity. Would get an orange wrist float strap for it also. (B and H photo).

The thing about the go pros cameras are; no flash for low light situations and limited megapixels.
