What is the best area in costa rica to visit durring the summer? Are there any good hotels with a quality break near by? I've heard of Pavonnes but its pretty remote.

Pavonnes is a must. Just ask around for a place to stay. I stayed in someone's guest house for cheap. Also, Mal Pais is one of the most consistent places I've seen in CR. There's plenty of hostel type places to stay. Check out Zen Casa, I think that's what it was called, if it is even still there. It's not a far walk to the beach either. Or get friendly with someone that has a rental and explore some. Pura Vida!!

I stayed in Playa Hermosa outside of Jaco in central CR last year. It was a really nice beach break. Supposively its the most consistent break in CR. Hermosa is a cool area to stay in because it is not very built up, but you have Jaco right down the road which is more built up and has the nightlife.
