mine would defiently be fall no surf zones no tourists. even though i love the summer lust laying on the beach chilling and tanning and checking out the ladies. i only miss the ladies during the fall which is the downset of fall.

Yeah Its hard each season has it pros and cons , Fall and winter you get the solitude of surfing with a few but with that like with any shore town it quiet like a nuculare bomb went off. But in the other hand Spring and Summer bring the crowded line up but all bring the hussle and bussle of summer warm weather less rubber to wear and eye candy on the beach

    i picked fall & winter.

fall b/c it's like a breath of fresh air after dealing w/ the tourists all summer, there's almost guaranteed to be waves, the air cools off a bit, but the water stays warm, & hurricane season finally gets cranked up

winter b/c if i really want to, i can find a good break w/ no one out for miles around. just me & the seagulls. & there's nothing quite like getting shacked in 35° water...

i really dont care, but if i had to pick one season it would be fall. i surf in pretty solitary spots by myself during the summer so why not pick the best season for waves/temperature? surfing was never a big social thing for me anyway

Summer & fall at the east coast USA locales is a lotta fun, even if summer is flat city sometimes.

Winter is great, too, 'cause I flee for Barbados or Nica or anywhere tropical. Easy to get spoiled when the water is 80 degrees. This year going to give Tortola a roll & next year Brasil or Ecuador (all 3 are new destinations)...

Using up those AA airline miles...:D

    Spring, in Pacific Central America
    Later Summer in Cape Hatteras
Fall, anywhere in the Northern Hemisphere, but DelMarVa is fine.

I like fall the best because the swells are good the water is warm for awhile and the crowds are gone. though I agree I love summer because of the scenery on the beach and I make alot of friends. My daughter also gets to surf all summer so thats cherished before the school season. Fortunately where I surf theres lots of girl surfers out in the water. Winter is awesome because your alone except maybe a rare fisherman and the ocean and landscape are sureal. And snow on the beach really sets the tone. Its fun in the spring because you finally see another surfer in the water and its kinda cool. Still have to wear all the rubber but you get the best sandbars after the winter Nor'easters.

    Spring

You still get the winter storm patterns for at least the first half of the season, the tourists haven't invaded yet, the water's still cold so it keeps the crowds down, there are no lifeguards, the sun is strong and the days start getting longer....

and summer's right around the corner.

Gotta be winter for me. Any wind out of the north has the local break clean. Only a handful of guys out and I dont work from mid Dec. to Mar. so plenty of time to surf.

i vote who cares as long as there's surf. in the summer the water is warm, the air is warm, but the crowds are too big, and a bunch of novelty surfers are in the water lobbing around on their boards even when the surf is flat. also if the swell gets too ''big'' or ''dangerous'' cops give tickets to those who don't heed the warnings, and choose to surf. the fall like right now is nice. the water is still warm or at least it is in the early fall. the air starts getting cold though so you need a suit because the air is 60 degrees, but the water is 70. i am sure i will be needing some rubber again soon eh. winter is fun, because there aren't many people out, so no crowds, but sometimes the water is 34 degrees. it's okay for me. kinda fun having a snow session. spring is probably the worst season. warm air, and cold water. 75 degree air, and 50 degree water. gross. the surf is usually pretty mediocre too, but in 09 the spring wasn't too bad. i remember it being at least rideable a couple days a week. small, but rideable. not as many days like that this past spring.

Fall - the crowd thins out alot and the water is still warm. And you still have the occasional hotties on the beach trying to stay tan into October. Also, you get to surf before Thanksgiving dinner which makes you all the hungrier. All of the kooks are home because they forgot all about surfing because the temp is below 85. You gotta love it. :)

I'd have to say fall/winter. One of my best surfing memories was in the fall about five years ago. No one in the water except me and one of my buddies. Nice clean waves surfed for a good two or three hours, got out out of the water and rolled over to a local crab house in our wetsuits and asked if they would serve us with the nice gear we had on. They were happy to have us being that no one was in the restaurant. Good waves nice fat crabs couldn't ask for much better(maybe lobster or surf and turf lol).

I chose the last option, but if I were asked my least favorite season; it would definitely be summer. The only pro to summer is not wearing any wetsuit and that isn't worth all the cons.

Thanksgiving early session, get back for first NFL game / napping, eat like there's no tomorrow, and then more NFL / napping. Man I love that. :)
