no regular routine. it all depends the time of the day. i usually eat a banana also haha. or a granola bar if it's morning. drink some milk, and some water before the session. i usually take a small backpack with a water bottle too. if i surf in town it's only about a 7 or 8 minute bike ride for me. in the winter i just drive though. if it's not too cold, but cool enough to wear a suit i just bike home in my suit. personally i bring a town, and just drive home in my suit. i usually change into it before i get to the beach also. i haven't even started wearing a suit yet though thankfully. with the cool air temps though i feel it coming soon. i was able to trunk it today with 65 degree air temps, and 70 degree water.

Yes, on bigger days, this is a good practice. My surfing ADD sometimes tempts me to just paddle straight out, usually through a giant impact zone to get out there as fast as possible... But, if the swell is OH+ at the beach breaks, it does REALLY help to identify all the currents/channels etc, and use the rips to get out... There is nothing like making it to the outside with dry hair when its 3ft OH at the beach breaks... And like you said, simple triangulations to keep your positioning correctly will keep you barreled in large conditions all day long....

Like I was saying in another thread, at the end of every giant, walled up close out, there is a shoulder.... The key to surfing beach breaks is dancing on that fine line of too deep and just right... so a simple 3-5 minute waiting/watching period is helpful... But it is a dicipline that only comes out of me if im intimidated when I arrive... Allows the nerves to settle and make sure you dont waste 50% of your energy on getting out and paddling around and navigating large sets...

Pack car night be for, wake at 4am, stub toe, hit the bathroom, nasty coffee/bowl of raisin brand, 1hr and a half drive, slow down for speed traps, wait for sun rise, hit the water and soak for 8hrs, fight off sleep on the drive home.
