Hoping I can get some decent advice here. My girl wants to use our time share vacation either next April/May or early September. Knowing that I'd I want to bring my sponge with my she gave me the choice of VA beach area or Miami. While there are other place I'd like to go (Costa or PR), for the time being they are to far from some of our responsibilities should an emergency pop up. So given that I'm a beginner bodyboarder (two summers, 2 falls, and a early spring, with a few hurricanes under my belt), and we need things to do at night (higher end restaurants, nightlife, etc) which would you guys recommend? i'm thinking virginia beach has better waves at this time, but miami probably has the better night life so its up to you and your girl witch youd rather have
Miami there are no waves. But nightlife and weather is great. Jersey is only good from june till august. VA Beach is probably your best bet if you want both.
Having lived in Florida, i have been to miami numerous times, and the nightlife is good. I have never surfed there but its always flat. If you are with your girl though, it may be bad for you, since beautiful women aplenty, and you may get caught looking several times. Va Beach has a more laid back atmosphere. And it's pretty fun here during the summer months
it blows my mind that vb is a tourist destination. Go to miami, and stop in sebastian for a surf on the way down there. Have a mojito for me
Miami I used to live in Ft lauderdale and work in Miami Beach. Great water, great nightlife, waves around the inlet jetties sometimes, sebastien a few hours north, keys south. GO TO MIAMI !!
I lived in ft lauderdale for a year. The waves suck, but the nightlife, warmth, green water, and weird looking fish you catch is all good. If you do go there take a drive down a1a starting from south to north its a pretty cool ride, has some awesome sites. Also if your lucky enough to have some swell i would go to juno beach pier. Its lesser known but a pretty cool place, with a tiki hut on top of big dunes over looking the water. So go there,
Thanks.. Looks like Miami it is, thanks a ton gentlemen. Guess I'll leave the sponge at home and save the airfare for it and just rent a kayak or something down there...or maybe get some snorkeling/fishing gear. And as for the girls. I'm allowed to look, just not gawk or touch I got an awesome girl. Rez
If you end up leaving the boards at home, Miami Beach could be a good place to take a crack at a SUP. I know a bunch of people were doing that the last time I was down there.
too bad you'll be with your girl. south beach has by far the hottest girls on the east coast and they all dress like sluts. if you plan to party bring your wallet. $17 for a mixed drink and $12 for a beer at the bar in my hotel. i'd say miami if you were going down with some boys to run game and party. since you'll be with your girl and you're looking waves i'd say vb. but there's always a chance you'll get skunked in vb.
Miami McLovin: Actually that would be pretty cool if they have rentals there. I've been wanting to try it for a while but I haven't been able to set aside the cash to get a decent SUP. Might be able to get the girl to give that a go just because of how warm the water is down there. She won't go in the water in NJ because anything below 85 is to cold. Griffin: Thats why I'm asking now, started saving money right after her Bday. Honestly though even if it was just me and the guys, none of them hit the water, all of them are just popping out kids, and all of thier women have tighter leashes on them then I do. Besides, I'm an ugly fu+cker, I'd rather have the guarantee of having my girl there. Wavehog: Minivan my arse. No kids, no need. Just dogs, sponges, and fencing gear go in my hatch.
If its Florida, I'd probably go to Cocoa Beach. Been there many times. Your close to Sebastian, Hr from Orlando and near the Space Center, Watching a rocket take off with your girlfriend is like the big O. Lots of good places to party. good waves most of the time. Kinda crowded at times. especially at First Light near Patrick Airforce Base. "Hot Geenies everywhere" Ha
