i know everyone is going to say GO WITH A GOPRO- but im not gonna be mounting on my board.

i want want the a screen so i can actually see what im shooting.

If you got a really nice camcorder already, the quality won't ever be the same on something handheld that is WP. Look up housing specifically for your cam... gonna be pricey, but if you're into it and want quality. That's your best bet.

I own a Go Pro and it shoots a 180 degree wide view so all you need to do point the thing in the general area and you have shot. The water case never let me down--I actually lost one in the ocean, some kid found it stuck in the a jetty and it worked!
I kow its odd to not have a view finder but trust me, you miss the shot.
    Good luck

Just don't spend like $30 on a case. You're prolly look at like $150-300 for a good housing. Make sure you use the moisture packets as they'll save the camera if the case has extra room.
