Yeh im not liking it either. But one good thing is that if the swell ever is good the torists wont go in the ocean. They get scared.

As someone who works a 9-5, I enjoy the extra daylight.

The bad thing is that sometimes they do go in and have to be saved by me, another surfer, or the lifeguards. I remember 2 or 3 summers ago there was this one day where the storm surge was just too much for me and I didnt go in. I remember reading that a few people drowned in OCMD that day. I thought to myself, I surf all the time and didnt go in because of the strong current...why would a tourist attempt to even consider going in then? The problem is that they are there for a weekend or week and dont know the that the waves/currents etc actually change.

all tourists get scared of the dreaded "rip tide". if i go out somewhere where there is a long paddle out (not so much in nj but on trips to cali) most surfers look for a rip off the jetty to get towed right out to the break. If a tourist gets caught in one I get out the popcorn and watch and laugh as they **** themselves.
