I dont think giving up longboarding spots makes a big difference so I am going to ask a pretty open question. Are there any spots in NJ, preferably in Monmouth County where there is a solid "wall" is the best way to describe it. Ive gotten pretty into longboarding recently and have been all over alot in shark river hills but im looking for something besides a hill, kind of like a standing wave i guess you could call it. Pretty much im asking if there is anything like this in NJ (the part I am talking about starts about 4 and half minutes into the video) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n4KoVXSXQMc&feature=fvw Thanks
The IKEA banks in Elizabeth are the longest I know in NJ. More locally are the Lakewood banks. The also a ton in NYC (Brooklyn Banks, Bird**** Banks, and 52st Banks). Sounds like you should also check out Landsown in MD and if it is still there, Magic in Pottstown, PA. They are both old 70's parks with ditch like features. You can seach the internet for spots also it is not like surfing. The only people that keep skate spots quite are going to drop hammers in a video and don't want someone else to come out with the clip first. Those spots your not interested in anyway. Good luck the search is half the fun.
holly hill in brielle. Also, a park in Brielle near the library has an asphalt bank. I longboard too, I live in west belmar. Let me know next time you go.
theres the skate park in brigantine which has a nice bowl. NWW skate park with is all bowl is small but fun , the wildwood bank in the board walk where the old Photon building use to be . plus there is a cpl really big hill street in Cape May County which are fun to Downhill
heard the hills have some nice hills to bomb...elizabeth terrace..legendary not sure about to many waves like that around monmouth county
I am from brigantine and the bowl is alright but really small and normally as water in it somewhere i have rode it a few times not really worth a long drive tho
oh and also, there is a sick skatepark in Sayreville. It has an awesome bowl that flows really well and a pretty sweet street section that I saw guys on old school boards cruising through. It would be perfect for what you're looking for and I know there are some guys who longboard that go there
I love downhilling in the Blue Ridge Mountains. Nice long rides, excellent pavement and fun to see how the deer and cows and other wildlife respond when you cruise by. I ride an old Sims extra wide board with tail lip. Once I was riding on skyline drive in the middle part of Virginia blue ridge at midnight after skiing at massanuten. The road was closed to auto traffic. Full moon snow on the ground but not on the road. A bear was foraging along the roadway. Very cool.
